An empty directory attracts no one, and one without engaged owners stays empty
Building a directory of restaurants, hotels or spas looks like a design task, but the real problem comes later: filling hundreds of listings by hand is unworkable, and without listings nobody visits the site. Listox starts from that reality: instead of you loading every business, owners sign up their own venue and you focus on organizing and publishing the showcase.
Listox and owner-submitted listings
The theme includes an add-listing feature from the frontend and a dashboard page (Frontend Dashboard). Submissions can be tied to packages, so signing up a business becomes a revenue stream for you. Visitors, in turn, can leave comments and ratings on each listing.
Listing management relies on WP Job Manager (the free version), and the events calendar relies on the Events Calendar plugin. They are external pieces installed alongside the theme.
Map and filters: what travelers look for first
Someone searching for where to eat or sleep in an unfamiliar place thinks of the map before the list. Listox includes a half-map, half-listing page with filters, compatible with Google Maps and OpenStreetMap.
Elementor design and its real limits
- Free Elementor: the theme is built on the free version of the page builder. It lets you edit the home page, pages such as Contact or About, the single listing, the blog and the archives.
- Header and footer builders: designed with Elementor.
- 30+ custom elements: drag-and-drop modules, integrated with the theme.
- Four home styles: a starting point, not a huge catalog of designs.
- Typography and color: Google Fonts or standard fonts, with color options through Redux.
Keep in mind that the theme is a foundation: the listing system depends on WP Job Manager, events on Events Calendar, and the shop, if you want one, on WooCommerce. It is also compatible with Contact Form 7 and MailChimp for WP. Without those plugins, you will not have everything you see in the demo.
