About Lobo – WordPress Portfolio for Freelancers & Agencies
A portfolio that looks like everyone else's won't win you commissions
People who hire a photographer, a video studio or an illustrator usually look at many portfolios in a row, and most of them blur together in memory: the same grid, the same typeface, the same menu. Lobo starts from that idea: your work is what has to stick, and the website should give it its own presentation without you having to code anything. It is designed for creative agencies, freelancers, filmmakers, photographers, illustrators, designers and developers.
Anyone buying a portfolio theme lives by showing their work, and what usually goes wrong is the way of showing it: each project calls for a different format (a fullscreen video, a series of images, a piece of audio) and rigid templates force them all into the same mold.
Lobo's Module Builder: compose each project your own way
The heart of the theme is its own module builder. Instead of filling in a fixed template, you build each page or project with reusable blocks:
- Backgrounds: you can use a color or an image as the background, plus custom fullscreen backgrounds for each project and section.
- Content: text, images, sliders, videos and audio tracks.
- Hero video: fullscreen videos from YouTube and Vimeo.
- Your own music: tracks hosted on your server (mp3 or ogg) with a player integrated into the theme's design.
- Parallax: on backgrounds and videos, with the option to turn it off if you prefer normal scrolling.
It also includes the Royal Slider slider, with touch gestures and keyboard control.
How projects are displayed and filtered
You can have several portfolio pages, choose between 1 and 4 columns and pick Isotope or masonry layouts. There is project filtering, infinite scroll and two different menus to choose from. There is also a sticky submenu that keeps important pages and categories at hand while the visitor moves through the site; if you don't like it, it can be turned off. Everything is adjusted from the native WordPress Customizer, with changes shown in real time, using Google Fonts, Font Awesome icons and control over text sizes and colors.
Limits worth knowing: it is a theme with its own modules, not a theme built for the block editor or for another page builder, so you will have to learn its system. The author's support covers questions about the theme, not custom work, and the strong design with parallax and fullscreen backgrounds is not the best fit if you want a sober site that is quick to read.
Frequently asked questions before you decide
Can it be used to sell?
Yes, it integrates with WooCommerce. The shop shows each product with parallax backgrounds that slide up, and call-to-action buttons only appear on click. It is a minimalist, very visual style, closer to a gallery than to a catalog with many products and filters.
Does it look good on mobile?
It is responsive and ready for iOS and mobile devices, with touch gestures on the sliders.
Can it be translated?
It is localization ready and compatible with WPML.
Can I use the demo images?
No. The demo images belong to the artists who provided them and are not included in the package: they are used for demonstration purposes only.
The sample content is imported with an XML file
To start with a ready-made structure, Lobo includes an XML file with sample content. Importing it lets you see how the modules are put together before you replace the texts and projects with your own. Since the demo uses copyrighted images, you will have to replace them with your own material. Spend some time exploring the Module Builder with that content, because that is where the final look of each project is decided. Also check in the demo whether the parallax style feels comfortable on your phone before committing to it.
