About MainWP Database Updater Extension

Opening every site just to click «Update Database»

If you manage several client sites, you know the routine: you update WooCommerce or Elementor from your dashboard and afterwards, in each client's WordPress, a notice appears saying the database needs its own step too. That forces you to log in site by site just to click a button. With ten sites it is a lost afternoon; with fifty, a task that keeps getting postponed.

MainWP Database Updater Extension moves that step to your MainWP Dashboard. It is a MainWP extension, so it makes sense if you already manage your sites from there.

One tab and three ways to launch the process in MainWP Database Updater Extension

Once you activate the extension, a «Database Updates» tab appears inside the «Updates» menu. There you see which plugins on your child sites have a pending database update, with their current and latest versions.

  • Selection by plugin: you tick the plugins, the extension finds the affected sites, you untick the ones you want to leave out and click «Update Selected».
  • Everything at once: the «Update All» button runs the process on all child sites.
  • Site by site: you expand the arrow next to the plugin, find the specific site and click «Update Now».

It only covers WooCommerce, Elementor and Elementor Pro

The extension does one thing and does it for three specific plugins. Before relying on it, separate what it solves from what you will keep doing yourself:

  • It solves: detecting in a single panel which sites have a pending WooCommerce, Elementor or Elementor Pro database update.
  • It solves: running the process in bulk, with site selection or one by one.
  • You cover it separately: any other plugin or theme that asks for this step. If it is not one of those three, you will have to log in to the site.
  • You cover it separately: the backup beforehand. Before touching a live store, make one with your usual system.
  • You cover it separately: checking the site afterwards, especially orders, cart and pages built with Elementor.
  • You need it as a base: a MainWP Dashboard with the child sites connected. Without that, the extension has nowhere to work.

An up-to-date plugin does not mean an up-to-date site

If you sell maintenance, that gap is your responsibility even if nobody asks about it. This extension gives you a visible list of pending items, which is exactly what you need to turn a silent oversight into a task with a date. And since the list shows plugin and version, it also helps you prioritize: WooCommerce stores first, the rest afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need other plugins or an API?

No. Your MainWP installation and the supported plugins (WooCommerce, Elementor and Elementor Pro) on the child sites are enough.

Can I update just one site?

Yes. Expand the arrow next to the plugin, find the site and click «Update Now».

Does it work for plugins other than those three?

No. It is built for WooCommerce, Elementor and Elementor Pro. For any other plugin, the step is still done on the site itself.

Will it keep working with new versions of WooCommerce and Elementor?

The MainWP team maintains compatibility with new versions. Even so, on important stores it is wise to test with one site first rather than launching «Update All» blindly.
