About MainWP Jetpack Scan Extension
The site nobody has opened for months is the one that fails first
When you manage twenty or fifty client websites, security rarely fails on the one you look after every week. It fails on the one nobody has logged into for months, with a vulnerable plugin that ends up on a public list of flaws. And the client doesn't distinguish between "the plugin had a flaw" and "my agency didn't notice". MainWP Jetpack Scan Extension brings the scan results of your child sites into the same MainWP dashboard, so checking security becomes a routine and not a reaction to a scare.
Threats, details and history without opening each site
The extension relies on the WPScan vulnerability database to look for malware and flaws in WordPress core, plugins and themes. Automatic scans run daily, and you can launch an on-demand scan on all sites. The Sync Jetpack Scan Data button brings the results into your MainWP Dashboard.
- A widget on the Overview page summarizes the results and gives direct access to the vulnerabilities.
- In the Threats section you click a site's number to see the details of each problem and the steps to resolve it. Most have a quick fix.
- The History tab keeps the threats that were resolved or ignored, with the date and time of the action. It helps you track a site's security history and check that everything has been addressed.
- When a threat is detected, an email alert is sent.
One connection per site from Add App and Manage Apps
In Add App you create the Jetpack Scan APIs that link each child site to the extension. In Manage Apps you see all the ones you've added and manage them from a single place. It's a MainWP add-on: it works inside your MainWP Dashboard and makes no sense without it. Installing the Jetpack plugin on the child sites isn't mandatory, but it lets you get more out of the extension.
Decide which sites in your portfolio deserve a Jetpack scanner
The extension is the bridge between MainWP and the service, not the scanner itself: it needs a Jetpack Scan subscription for the sites you want to protect. Before connecting your whole portfolio, think about which ones have the most traffic, the most plugins or the most risk for the client. Also, the quick fix covers most problems, not all of them: some will need manual review.
Do I have to install Jetpack on every child site?
It isn't essential, but installing it on the child sites lets you get more out of the extension.
How often does it scan?
It runs automatic daily scans on the connected sites, and you can launch one on demand whenever you need.
Can I fix vulnerabilities from MainWP?
Yes, most detected ones have a quick fix that saves you from logging into each site by hand. The ones without it will need you to resolve them yourself.
Does it work without MainWP?
No. It's a MainWP extension and is managed from its Dashboard.
