Majalahpro News Portal WordPress Theme

Majalahpro is for the publisher who lives off ads and writes for Indonesian readers

Building a news portal usually runs into three problems: a slider that slows loading, ads placed where nobody clicks, and a design that feels foreign to local readers. Majalahpro is built for news and magazine sites in Indonesia, with a layout that recalls the country's big portals. It also fits other editorial niches, such as tech reviews or automotive sites.

Whoever monetizes a news portal depends on two things: how many pages each visitor views before leaving, and exactly where on the page each ad appears. Before choosing it, keep its limits in mind:

• You need your own domain and hosting with WordPress installed.
• AMP is not built in: it relies on the official AMP plugin, which you install separately.
• Placing ads does not guarantee Google AdSense will accept you: content that spreads hate, fake news or pirated software downloads puts you at risk.
• It is an editorial theme: it gives you structure and options, but you provide the articles and the audience.

More than ten ad slots, from floating ones to those inside the paragraph

Majalahpro offers more than ten ad positions: floating on the left, on the right and at the bottom, and also inside the text, between paragraphs. There are also banners between the navigation links of each post, and the top bar, the banner and the sidebar can stay fixed while scrolling.

More slots does not mean better revenue: a saturated page drives readers away. If you advertise on Facebook, the theme has fields for the Facebook Pixel ID and for the Google Analytics code.

Ajax tabs instead of a heavy slider

On the homepage, Majalahpro replaces the traditional slider with an Ajax slider and tabs, which cuts loading time. The theme does without jQuery and icon fonts: icons are SVG. The result is a lighter page, although final speed also depends on your hosting and the weight of your images.

For search ranking, it uses a clean h1, h2 and h3 structure and supports schema.org. The design is responsive, something Google recommends so the site looks right on mobile.

Related posts, infinite scroll and menus so readers don't leave after the first article

What keeps a visitor around is what they see after finishing an article. Majalahpro offers:

• Three types of related posts at once (by tag, by category and by topic), all configurable. One of them supports infinite scroll.
• Infinite scroll, the same pattern big news portals use.
• Five menus: side, first and second navigation, a scrolling mobile menu and a footer menu.
• Floating share buttons on each post and others on the archives, which appear when you hover over a post. It also supports Facebook comments, useful if your news circulates mainly on that network.

Colors and typography from the customizer

All colors are changed from the customizer, from the top navigation to the footer. There are more than 600 Google fonts and font size can also be adjusted. The theme also lets you import the demo data with one click, so you start from an already laid-out portal.

Questions before building your portal with Majalahpro

Can I use it if I'm not a programmer?

Yes. It follows WordPress standards and the customizer offers options from color to layout.

Is it only for news?

No. It also fits magazines, tech reviews or automotive sites.

Does AMP work out of the box?

You need to install the official AMP plugin. With it you can use its default settings or the transition mode, so the AMP layout follows the theme's.

Will I be approved for AdSense?

It depends on your content, not on the theme. Fake news, hate speech or pirated software downloads can end up banned.
