About MaxPaxton – Freelance Copywriter and Journalist WordPress Theme

A writer with a poorly told website loses the job before the quote

Anyone looking for a freelance copywriter or journalist rarely reads the whole site: they check within a minute whether you have written something like what they need. Many profiles fail right there, with a generic introduction and texts mixed together without order.

MaxPaxton starts from one idea: your own website is the first sample of your work. The demo imitates a Los Angeles writer's site: a large headline about the power of words, an explanation of the craft, his services and a selection of recent texts. All that content is sample content in English; you replace it with your own.

A portfolio the client filters by type of text

The demo groups the work into Articles, Blog Content, Email Marketing, Native Advertising and Press Releases, and the projects include longreads, corporate blog, press releases and website articles. Someone who needs a press release goes straight to them without wading through your newsletters. Plan your categories around what you want to sell, not around what you happened to write.

There are also separate service pages: Email Marketing, SEO Copywriting, Blog Content and Press Releases.

The MaxPaxton blog supports seven post formats

For a journalist or a writer, the blog is where you show judgment. The theme offers these post formats: standard, gallery, video, image, link, quote and audio. Listings can be shown in classic, grid, masonry or justify layouts, with the sidebar on the left, on the right or not at all. A long report and a short column do not need the same layout.

To build the rest of the pages it includes modules such as:

  • Accordions, tabs and toggles.
  • Testimonials (static and as a dynamic module) and a carousel module.
  • Animated counters, a countdown timer and a pricing table.
  • Contact form, maps, audio, video and a video slider.
  • Seven header styles and three footer styles.

Decide whether MaxPaxton works as a showcase for a writer

It is a theme designed to present a person and their texts, not to sell on the site. It also includes team, careers and partners pages that you probably will not use if you work alone: leave them out. The counters for clients, years and texts are only believable if you enter real figures. The demo blog posts carry old dates; replace them so you do not look inactive.

Does it work for a journalist and not only for a copywriter?

The structure does: portfolio, blog and contact. What changes are the categories, since the demo is oriented to copywriting (email, press releases, SEO). Rename them to match your own sections.

Can I charge for my services from the website?

It has a contact form and a pricing table. If you want to take payments online, you would need something additional; check in the demo what fits your case.

Can I publish in another language?

The demo texts are in English. If your site will be in Spanish or bilingual, check in the demo how titles and menus behave with your language before deciding.

Do I need to know how to design?

Headers and footers already come in several styles, and your job is to replace texts, images and categories.
