About MemberPress WooCommerce Plus
Selling memberships through the checkout you already run
MemberPress handles memberships well, but it brings its own checkout. If your store already runs on WooCommerce, that means two carts, two sets of configured gateways, two places to look for orders, and a customer who cannot buy a physical product and a subscription in the same purchase.
This add-on joins the two halves: the membership is sold as just another WooCommerce product, and when the order completes the customer automatically receives the matching access in MemberPress.
How it is configured
You mark a WooCommerce product as a membership product and assign the relevant membership. One product can grant access to several memberships at once, and it works with variable products too, though in that case the membership is the same whichever variant is chosen.
Customer accounts
The account is created on purchase, and the username can be generated three ways: the full email address, first and last name, or the part of the email before the at sign. It sounds like a minor detail until you have a thousand users all named after their email address.
The welcome email can be customised and the customer redirected to your own thank-you page, with the option of applying that redirect only to membership orders or to all of them.
The detail that prevents complaints
It can grant access while the order is still in "Processing", without waiting for it to reach "Completed". With bank transfer or payments that take time to confirm, this is the difference between the customer getting in immediately and them emailing support asking why they paid and cannot get in. Membership orders can also be marked completed automatically.
Recurring subscriptions
It supports WooCommerce Subscriptions, though that requires an additional add-on.
Two ways to install it
If MemberPress and WooCommerce sit on the same WordPress installation, this plugin alone is enough. If they are on different domains or installations, you also need the External Membership Sites add-on bundle. Worth knowing before buying.
There are optional add-ons for membership-based discounts, automatic LearnDash course enrolment, and corporate accounts.
