About Modula - Defaults
Nobody decides that two galleries should differ
You open a new gallery, roughly remember the settings of the last one and publish. Months later, two pages of your site show photos in different ways and nobody chose that. The difference does not come from a criterion: it comes from configuring from memory every time.
Modula Defaults cuts that path. You save the settings once, under a name, and apply them when creating the next gallery. Beyond the time, you gain something less visible: your galleries stop depending on what you happen to remember that day.
It is an extension of Modula Pro. It does not create galleries by itself: it works with the settings Modula already has.
What you save and where you apply it
- Several sets of settings, each with its own name and values.
- Applied on creation: you pick the set when adding a new gallery.
- Applied in bulk: you select existing galleries and use the Apply default action.
- Galleries and albums: default settings work for creating both.
- Managed from Modula > Defaults, where you view, edit, remove and add sets.
One name for each way of working
If all your galleries use the same settings, one set is enough. The extension pays off more when your site has several kinds of gallery, because each set has its own name and you can pick the right one instead of starting from zero.
For example, one set for the portfolio and another for client galleries. Give them names anyone on your team will understand: whoever creates the next gallery will choose by that name, without checking the settings one by one.
Where its work ends
It does not replace Modula Pro. Without Modula and Modula Pro it has nothing to act on.
It saves settings, not content. You still upload each gallery's images yourself.
Existing galleries need an explicit step. The Apply default action runs on the ones you select, so the change goes through a decision of yours. Try it on one gallery and check the published result before selecting the rest.
Creating a set and applying it to a gallery
You need Modula and Modula Pro active on the site. From there:
- Install the extension. The Defaults section will appear inside Modula.
- In Modula > Defaults, click Add New and choose the settings.
- Click Save Default.
- Go to Modula > Galleries > Add new and select the set.
- For existing galleries, check them in Modula, choose Apply default under Bulk actions and click Apply. Then pick the set and click Import.
Modula Pro, pagination and other gallery plugins
The base is Modula Pro. If your galleries grow large, Modula Pagination splits them into several parts.
If you have not chosen a gallery plugin yet, FooGallery Premium brings filtering, video alongside photos and watermarking into one product. Envira Gallery is another name in the same field.
