About MonsterInsights - AI Insights Addon
Analytics was never a data problem: it was a question problem
Everybody has Google Analytics installed and almost nobody uses it. It is not for lack of information: the data is all there, in more detail than anyone needs. It is that getting something out of it means knowing which panel to open, which dimension to cross with which metric and what to compare against which period.
And that is a trade. Whoever runs a shop or a services site does not have it, so they go in, look at the week's visitor count, decide it is good or bad, and leave. The tool has not failed: the question simply never got asked.
What changes when you can ask in plain language is who can use the data. The barrier stops being knowing how to drive the tool and becomes knowing what you want to know, which is a much lower and far more useful barrier.
What it does
- Natural language questions about your data, written the way you would ask a person.
- Covers traffic, conversions, sales, search performance, form submissions and ecommerce.
- Answers in three parts: a plain language explanation, a recommended action and quick key insights.
- Works on aggregated data, the same you already see in your reports.
- Built into the dashboard, without leaving WordPress or opening Analytics.
The recommended action is the part that is worth something
Being told how many visits you had, you already knew. What is hard and what almost nobody does is the next step: looking at a number and deciding what to do about it.
That is where the real value sits. "Your mobile visits convert at half the rate of desktop" is a fact. "Check mobile checkout, that is where the difference is lost" is a task. The second can be done on a Tuesday afternoon; the first just gets looked at.
With two sensible warnings. An automatic recommendation leans on what is in the data, not on what you know about your business: if March had a campaign that distorts everything, that is not in there and you do know it. And treat the suggestion as a hypothesis to test, not as an instruction.
What gets sent out and what does not
That is the right question to ask of any tool analysing your data with artificial intelligence, and here the answer is published: according to the maker, raw user data is not shared with third party artificial intelligence services. What gets analysed is already aggregated data, the same that appears in your reports.
That is a real difference. Aggregated data says "40% arrived from search"; raw data says who arrived, from where and what they did. Analysing the first exposes nobody.
Even so, if you handle data on European Union residents, your obligation to state in your privacy policy which tools you use and which providers you work with does not go away. And Analytics is still the one collecting, so your visitors' prior consent is exactly as necessary as before.
Requirements and what it does not do
It needs MonsterInsights and a connected Google Analytics 4 property: with no data there is nothing to ask about. According to the maker, the feature is included in all its plans.
Some ecommerce metrics depend on also having its shop module, so if your questions are going to be about sales, check you have that part first.
It does not collect data on its own and does not replace Analytics: it interprets what is already collected. And it does not fix badly set up measurement: if your conversions are poorly defined, the answers will be as confusing as the reports.
Alternatives in the catalogue
The base it needs is in the catalogue: MonsterInsights, which is what connects WordPress to Analytics and without which this has no data to read.
If what you lack is not interpreting the data but acting on what sells more or less, look at WPC Smart Recommendations, which works with exactly that history.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Google Analytics 4?
Yes. With no connected data there is nothing to analyse.
Is my data sent to an external artificial intelligence service?
According to the maker, not raw: aggregated data is analysed, the same as in your reports.
Do I need a paid plan?
The maker states it is included across all its plans.
Can I ask about sales?
Yes, though some ecommerce metrics depend on having its shop module.
Does it tell me what to do or only what happened?
It gives an explanation and a recommended action. Treat it as a hypothesis to test, not an instruction.
Does it free me from the cookie notice?
No. Analytics is still the one collecting, so consent is just as necessary.
