Websites get scruffy on their own

The site gets delivered immaculate. A year later it has four different greys, three button sizes and two typefaces nobody can account for. Nobody did anything wrong: a page was added in a hurry, somebody else came in to publish, a section was copied from another site, a margin got nudged by eye on a Friday.

That drift does not get fixed with more discipline, because the problem is not people: it is that the design decisions were not written anywhere the site could read them from. If the brand colour lives only in the head of whoever chose it, every new page is a chance to lose it.

What Mosaic is

• Theme builder: headers, footers and templates, with ready-made designs to start from.
• Visual editor for laying out by dragging and seeing the result immediately.
• Style guide where the colours, typography, spacing and borders genuinely live, including what applies to the block editor.
• Class and variable system, so one change propagates instead of being repeated by hand.
• Dynamic content, loops and conditions, plus reusable components.
• The usual pieces solved: forms, responsive navigation and sliders.
• Starter themes with different characters, or a blank one if you prefer starting clean.

When it pays

If the site is going to last and grow. A style guide pays off over time: the more pages get added later, the more it was worth writing the rules down.

If several people publish. A shared system is what makes what each of them uploads look like the rest.

If your project is a single page that will not be touched, building the system is work you will not earn back.

And the usual warning with any builder, worth repeating here: what you build stays written in its format. It is a long-term decision, so it is worth trying on a small project before putting the site you live off on top of it. About licensing and the GPL

The code is distributed under the GPL licence and its use is free. Updates, support and activation against the developer's servers are separate services contracted with them. They are not the same thing, and buying one is not buying the other.
