About MotoPress Booklium WordPress Theme
The theme and the booking engine, from the same author
That is Booklium's practical difference against building an accommodation site with any theme and a booking plugin on top. Here both pieces come from MotoPress and are made for each other: the theme is the face, and the engine is MotoPress Hotel Booking, the same reservation and availability system that plugin handles.
The consequence is that the availability search, the accommodation page, the calendar and the booking process arrive already fitted together, rather than having to make the theme's design coexist with the screens a third-party plugin brings.
What kind of accommodation
Holiday apartments, rural houses, small and boutique hotels, hostels and agencies managing several properties. Broadly, accommodation wanting direct bookings rather than depending on the platforms alone.
What the engine underneath contributes
- Unlimited accommodations, with gallery, services, bed types and occupancy.
- Seasonal rates, with different prices by period and by length of stay.
- Availability search, suggesting accommodations by dates and number of people.
- Extra services bookable at reservation time.
- No commission per booking or per property.
The underlying reason for having your own site
Booking platforms take between fifteen and twenty per cent of every night. Your site does not compete with them on acquisition, and should not try: it competes on the second visit. For the guest who already stayed, and the one arriving on a recommendation, booking direct is cheaper for them and considerably better for you.
Which is why what genuinely matters is that booking on your site is exactly as easy as on the platform. If it has one extra step or one confusing screen, the customer goes back there and you pay the commission anyway.
And the small print on synchronisation
The engine syncs calendars with the large platforms through calendar exchange, which avoids most overlaps. But that exchange is periodic, not instant: between one check and the next, two bookings for the same dates can fit. In low season nothing happens; a full bank holiday is exactly when it can. If you work several channels at high occupancy, what you need is a channel manager with a direct connection, which is a different product and carries a monthly cost.
