About myCred Email Digest
Points nobody sees if the user never comes back
In a community with points, ranks and badges, each member's balance only exists when they open the site. Someone who stops logging in also stops finding out what they have earned, and your rewards program ends up as a scoreboard nobody looks at. A periodic email is the most direct way to remind them that something is waiting for them.
myCred Email Digest is a myCred add-on that sends emails periodically to the user groups you choose. It helps you keep in touch with your members without having to remember to send each notice by hand.
Daily, weekly, monthly or yearly: you set the pace
You choose the frequency from four options: daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. The pace should match the pace of your community: if points move every day, a weekly summary is usually enough; if changes are rare, a monthly send keeps the email from becoming noise.
Who gets each send
You can include or exclude groups based on the user's role, rank or badges. That way, an email can go only to those who have reached a certain rank, or leave out a group that should not receive it, such as the internal team or administrators.
How to customize the email in myCred Email Digest
- Predefined tags: data that is already available and fills itself in on every message.
- myCred reference tags: to put values from the points system straight into the text.
- User tags: so each person sees their own data, not generic text.
- Custom CSS: so the template fits your brand's look.
Before turning anything on you can send a test email and see how it looks. Afterwards, a log keeps the emails that were sent, which is useful when a user says they got nothing and you need to check.
You write the content, and myCred is required
The plugin relies on myCred, so it makes no sense without it. It works on a single site or on a multisite installation. What it already handles:
- Scheduling daily, weekly, monthly or yearly sends.
- Segmenting by role, rank or badge, including or excluding groups.
- Customizing the message with tags and CSS styles.
- Testing the email and checking the log of sent emails.
What you will have to cover yourself:
- Writing the content of the email and deciding what is worth telling.
- Creating and setting up in myCred the ranks and badges you want to use for segmentation.
- Making sure your hosting or an email service (SMTP) delivers messages properly, so they do not end up in spam.
- If you need open or click statistics, check in the demo whether the log offers them.
