A front page that changes every day without calling a developer
Setting up a blog or a digital magazine often ends in a rigid front page nobody dares to touch, or in a theme designed for a business that publishes nothing. A news site lives on readers coming back, and that depends on being able to rearrange the front page and the posts easily when the news changes.
Neder is a WordPress theme for news, magazines and blogs. It starts from ready-made demos that import with one click and can be customized afterwards. The topics range from sports, food, travel, cars, fashion, fitness, health, technology or photography to breaking news and reports, so you can start from something close to your niche instead of a blank canvas.
Headers, posts and sidebars in Neder: what you can combine
The variety lies in the pieces you mix together:
- Header: eight different styles.
- Single post: three designs, and the first two also come in a version without a sidebar.
- Sidebar: on the right, on the left or none at all.
- Width and footer: full-width or boxed page, and a single or double footer.
With that, a sports site and a fashion site don't have to look alike even if they use the same theme. A sidebar helps on a blog with many categories; for long reports, removing it gives more room for reading.
Visual Composer and galleries inside Neder, with a dependency worth knowing about
Neder relies on Visual Composer as its page builder, with backend and frontend editors and drag and drop layout. It also includes gallery, media gallery and carousel add-ons designed for that builder, useful for photo reports, portfolios or image-heavy sections.
The trade-off: pages are built with that builder's elements. If you ever switch builders, content laid out with its shortcodes may be left with meaningless leftovers and will need to be rebuilt. Think about it before laying out many pages.
Neder fits if you publish a lot; check languages, forum and shop first
The theme works with common plugins: Contact Form 7, Yoast SEO, WP Super Cache, WPML, Polylang, WooCommerce, bbPress, BuddyPress and AMP. That doesn't mean everything comes configured. The Polylang or WPML, bbPress and BuddyPress demos are not part of the one-click import: they exist only to check compatibility. If your site is multilingual or has a community, you set that part up yourself. The WooCommerce demo is listed as coming soon, so if you plan to sell, check in the shop demo how it looks.
Is it suitable for a small personal blog?
Yes, there are blog demos. With few posts you will probably not use even half of the headers and layouts.
Do I have to buy Visual Composer separately?
No, it comes included with the theme, together with its gallery and carousel add-ons.
Can I run the site in several languages?
It is compatible with WPML and Polylang, but they are not part of the one-click import: you will have to install and configure them.
Can I build a forum or a community?
It is compatible with bbPress and BuddyPress, although their demos don't import with one click and the setup is up to you.
