About Newsletter Contact Form 7 Addon
The contact who already gave you their email and nobody turns into a subscriber
Whoever writes to you through the contact form has already given you their email and some attention, but on many sites that message ends up in the inbox and stays there: to subscribe, they would have to find another form and repeat their details. Newsletter Contact Form 7 Addon avoids that second round: it adds a subscription checkbox to your Contact Form 7 form and, if the person ticks it, signs them up in Newsletter with the same submission.
The addon listens to every submission, checks whether the checkbox is ticked, extracts the email and starts a regular subscription process. If Newsletter is in double opt-in mode, the person receives their confirmation email. It does not touch the Contact Form 7 code, its behavior or your forms: the contact message reaches you as usual.

You already have the form published
You only need to add a checkbox with this code: [checkbox newsletter "Subscribe to my newsletter"]. You can change the name and the label. Then, the addon panel shows your Contact Form 7 forms: you pick the one you want to integrate and match the fields, saying which one is the email and which one is the checkbox that marks the subscription. Every form has its own order and layout, which is why Newsletter does not modify them: you add the checkbox yourself.
You segment your subscribers
Each form can send its sign-ups to one or several lists, including private ones, which is the usual choice for this kind of sign-up. That way you can later target them with a standard or an automated newsletter. If you want people to choose, add checkboxes like [checkbox list_1 "My list number 1 label"] changing the number to match your list. Only public lists count: with a private one the checkbox is shown, but Newsletter ignores it.
You collect sign-ups from a country that requires explicit consent
The checkbox must start unticked. You have two options: put something like «I want to subscribe to the newsletter and I accept the privacy statement» in the label, or add a second mandatory checkbox with [checkbox* privacy "I accept the privacy statement"]. Do not mix them up: the Contact Form 7 privacy checkbox accepts your rules, and the subscription checkbox gives consent to receive the newsletter. Ask your advisor what your case requires.
You want more sign-ups
You can leave the checkbox pre-ticked by writing default:1 right after the name and before the label: [checkbox newsletter default:1 "Subscribe to my newsletter"]. Keep in mind that a pre-ticked checkbox clashes with the explicit consent of the previous profile.
Custom fields: 255 characters at most
You can match form fields with custom subscriber fields, but each one stores 255 characters at most, so configure the form fields so they do not accept more.
Take special care with textarea fields: a long message will not fit. Use short fields (city, company, interest) and leave the free-text message out of the matching.
Common questions before connecting Contact Form 7 with Newsletter
Does it work without Newsletter or Contact Form 7? No: it is the bridge between the two and you need both.
Does it change my current forms? No. The only change is the checkbox you add yourself.
Is there a confirmation email? Yes, if Newsletter is set to double opt-in.
Can I integrate several forms? Yes: each form is configured separately, with its own email, checkbox and lists.
Dropdowns cannot be used to choose a list
Contact Form 7 does not generate dropdowns with value-label pairs, so you cannot use one to choose a list: use checkboxes. Also, Newsletter's own privacy checkbox does not work inside Contact Form 7 forms; if you need one, add it manually with Contact Form 7 syntax.
