About Newsletter Mailjet Addon
When newsletter emails don't arrive and nobody tells you
Newsletter Mailjet Addon connects the Newsletter plugin to the Mailjet delivery service. That is why this add-on doesn't just send the emails, it also takes care of bounces.
What Newsletter Mailjet Addon does with every send
Once active, it captures every email that Newsletter generates and sends it through Mailjet. Only Newsletter's emails: the rest of your WordPress emails (notifications, orders, contact forms) don't go through here.
- Sending via API or SMTP: it is configured with the API key and secret that Mailjet gives you. API integration is recommended; SMTP mode also exists, but it is usually slower.
- Bounce detection: a daily process asks Mailjet which addresses have bounced and marks them as "bounced", so they are not contacted again.
- Control from the panel: in the settings you can check that the bounce integration works and see when it last ran.
API version 1 or version 3: the detail that blocks the setup
Old Mailjet accounts cannot use the new API (version 3) and new accounts cannot use the old one (version 1). Since the add-on cannot know which type of account you have, the procedure is simple: generate the key and secret in your Mailjet account, enter them in the panel, test one version and then the other, and keep the one that works.
If your account is new, the keys are in the API keys section of your Mailjet account.
It needs Newsletter and a Mailjet account: what to know before deciding
This add-on does not work on its own: it is an extension of the Newsletter plugin and requires a Mailjet account. Mailjet lets you try the service with a free account, which at one point was limited to 200 emails per day; if your list is large, that cap may fall short, so check the service's current terms.
It is also not meant for sending other plugins' transactional email, because it only handles Newsletter's emails.
API or SMTP?
API, which is the recommended option and usually faster. SMTP remains as an alternative.
What happens with bounces?
They are checked once a day and the affected addresses are marked as bounced so they are not written to again.
Does it work for WooCommerce or my forms' emails?
No, it only captures emails generated by Newsletter.
My API key doesn't work, what do I do?
Try both version 1 and version 3 of the API; depending on how old your Mailjet account is, only one of the two will be valid.
