About Newsletter WP Users Integration
Your users already registered, but your mailing list doesn't know it
If you run a blog, a shop or a members area, you often end up with two databases that don't talk to each other: WordPress users and newsletter subscribers. Everyone who registers gives you their email and their attention, but that doesn't make them a subscriber, and sending them campaigns without their permission is a different matter.
Newsletter WP Users Integration is an addon for the Newsletter plugin that connects both databases: it adds the option to subscribe on the WordPress registration page, links users with subscribers and lets you create subscribers from the users you already have. It also works with third-party registration plugins.
Consent checkbox and confirmation on first login
At registration, you can offer subscription as one more option or force every user to be a subscriber. If you choose the checkbox, you configure its text.
- Confirmation on login: if the user was able to log in, they received the WordPress activation email, so the address is valid and the subscription is confirmed with no extra steps.
- Automatic removal: the subscription is deleted when the WordPress user is cancelled.
- Fixed list: new registrations are assigned to a specific list you choose.
- Emails your way: you can enable or disable the welcome email and the confirmation email.
Be careful with forcing subscription: it only makes sense if your registration terms make it clear. The checkbox helps you collect consent, but its validity depends on how you word it.
WordPress roles turned into lists with Newsletter WP Users Integration
Every user has one or more roles, such as "editor", or "shop manager" if WooCommerce adds its own. With role mapping you decide which lists are activated and which are deactivated when someone has a specific role. If the user changes role, their lists update automatically. If you have authors, customers and members mixed together, that means sending each campaign to the right people without segmenting by hand.
Role mapping, list updates on role change and the custom welcome email are features of the Pro variant of the addon. If you need them, check that the copy you install includes them.
The same goes for import. The basic one runs in a single pass and, if your hosting limits execution time or resources, it can stop early and leave users unprocessed. The Pro one works in the background to avoid those limits.
Is the basic import enough, or do you need the Pro variant of the addon?
Decide based on the size of your user base and how finely you want to segment. With few users and a single list, the basic part covers the checkbox, confirmation and welcome email. With thousands of users or several roles, look at the Pro one. And remember: it is an add-on, it needs the Newsletter plugin installed and it does not replace a form builder.
Can I show a consent checkbox on the registration form?
Yes. You enable the checkbox and configure its label. Word it clearly, because the plugin does not guarantee GDPR compliance by itself.
What if I have a large user base?
The basic import may stop halfway because of your provider's limits. The Pro one processes all users in the background.
What if a user changes role?
With role mapping enabled, the lists update according to the new role.
Is the subscriber deleted if I cancel the user?
Yes, the subscription is deleted when the WordPress user is cancelled.
