About Nexter – Best Multipurpose WordPress Theme
Choosing a multipurpose theme usually ends the same way: you install one loaded with features, the site weighs twice what you expected, and every new plugin adds another JavaScript file that slows loading down. Nexter starts from the opposite idea: a lightweight base theme, designed so that you put the design in place yourself with your page builder or the block editor.
A lightweight theme where the weight depends on what you turn on
Anyone who builds sites for clients (agencies, freelancers, or people making their own) knows that performance is rarely broken by the theme itself, but by everything added on top of it. Nexter is written in pure JavaScript, without jQuery, and it is modular: you only activate the features you are going to use and the rest stay disabled as if they did not exist. For pages, the system loads a single CSS file and a single JS file per page, no matter how many blocks you use.
Elementor or the block editor, not just any builder
Nexter Theme works with Elementor and with the Gutenberg block editor. It is not compatible with every page builder: the maker talks about expanding the list, but today you should not assume it works with others. If you work with a different builder, test it before basing a project on it.
Within Gutenberg, the Nexter ecosystem is completed by Nexter Blocks (more than 90 blocks) and page and section templates ready to import and adapt to your brand.
Security, SEO and translation: what comes built in and what does not
It helps to separate what the theme solves from what you will have to cover elsewhere:
- Already solved: clean code optimized for SEO, accessibility ready, RTL compatible and translatable with WPML, plus built-in security hardening.
- Already solved: WooCommerce compatibility to set up a store.
- On your own: the content, the copy and the photos. An imported template is a starting point and needs adapting.
- On your own: your store setup (payments, shipping, taxes) and any feature the theme does not include, such as bookings or memberships.
- With the Extension and the Blocks: the theme builder and the advanced blocks do not come with the base theme alone.
Nexter Theme does not come with the whole design done
It is a base theme, not a closed theme with a single look. If you want to install it and have a finished site without touching anything, you will be frustrated: its strength is giving you the freedom to build quickly, not deciding the design for you.

No. It is compatible with Elementor and with the Gutenberg block editor. With other builders, check it on a test installation.
Will the site slow down because of so many features?
The features are modular: only what you use is activated, and there is no jQuery. Even so, the final weight depends on images, hosting and the plugins you add.
Is it suitable for an online store?
It is compatible with WooCommerce, but store setup, payments and shipping are up to you.
