About OceanWP Instagram Extension

For people already working with OceanWP who post on Instagram every week

Running Instagram and a website at the same time often leaves the website behind: the latest news is on the social network, while the page still shows a photo from months ago. This extension tries to close that gap by showing your feed inside your own site.

It makes sense if you already use the OceanWP theme or plan to, because it is an extension built for that ecosystem. It is not for you if your site runs on another theme, or if you want your own gallery that doesn't depend on Instagram: it displays what you have already published on your account, it doesn't create separate albums. Nor is it a shop or a booking system: its job is to show the feed.

The shop window that changes the most is the one your website shows the least

If you sell something people buy with their eyes (a restaurant, a tattoo studio, a florist, a photographer), your Instagram is the shop window that is refreshed the most, and your website is the one refreshed the least. People who arrive from Google or an ad want to check quickly that you are still active and that they like what you do. An integrated feed answers that without making you upload your photos twice.

OceanWP Instagram Extension: what you decide about the feed

It doesn't just paint a grid of photos. These are the controls it offers:

  • Number of columns: more columns for a compact strip of thumbnails, fewer so each photo has presence.
  • Likes and comments: you can show or hide them. If your account still has little interaction, hiding them keeps the feed from working against you.
  • Captions: they can also be shown or hidden. Useful when your texts are long and break the rhythm of the grid.
  • Profile details: you can display your username, follow count, posts and biography, so visitors understand at a glance who is behind the account.

How to set it up so it doesn't look tacked on

A feed added without thought looks like a piece foreign to the design. With highly detailed photos, such as dishes or jewelry, fewer columns work better. With varied images, a denser grid gives a sense of activity. If you already have well-crafted text on your site, hide the captions and let the image lead.

The extension generates a shortcode to place the feed. Before you decide, check in the demo how the grid behaves on mobile, because that is where a poorly planned feed shows the most.

Questions to ask before building the feed into your site

Does it work without the OceanWP theme? It is designed as an OceanWP extension, so the sensible choice is to use it with that theme.

Can I hide likes and comments? Yes, they are shown or hidden separately from the captions.

Can I show my biography and my posts? Yes, you can display profile details such as the username, follow count, posts and biography.

Is it for selling from Instagram? No. Its function is to show your feed on your site; it doesn't turn photos into a catalog with a cart or into bookings.
