Shipping never costs the same, and WooCommerce only knows two prices
Out of the box you can set a flat rate or free shipping. And the reality of any shop that sends things is a table: up to two kilos one price, two to five another, more to the islands, furniture separately, and free above sixty euros except for bulky items.
Flexible Shipping turns that into rules configured in a table, without touching code.
What it can calculate from
- Weight, price, quantity and volume of the cart, plus the dimensional weight carriers use.
- Shipping classes, categories and tags on products, for treating fragile or bulky goods differently.
- Specific dimensions: length, width and height.
- User role, so the wholesaler pays a different rate.
- Day of the week and time, for separating next-day from tomorrow's dispatch.
And above all, several conditions can be combined in the same rule, which is what allows reproducing a real tariff rather than an approximation.
What you appreciate most when something goes wrong
Debug mode. It shows which parameters it read from the cart, which rules fired and how the final number came out.
It may sound like a technical detail and it is one of the plugin's most useful features. Shipping rules fail silently: nobody warns you, an odd price simply appears in the cart, or the method disappears, and without seeing the calculation you are guessing. With twenty chained rules, that screen is the difference between solving it in five minutes or in two hours.
What this plugin is not
It is not connected to the carriers. It calculates what you charge according to your rules, not what the transport company charges you nor the real availability of a service.
That distinction decides which one you need. If you have negotiated rates and want to reproduce them with your margin, this is exactly the tool, and it works without depending on an external service responding. If what you want is the price coming live from the carrier's interface and printing the label from the order, that is a different category of product.

No. It calculates from your rules. For live carrier rates a different kind of plugin is needed.

Yes, conditions combine, which is its main advantage over a simple table.

Can I hide a method depending on the cart?
