About Omnibus for WooCommerce
A 40% discount on a price you raised last week
Marking a product as "on sale" right after raising its price is an old habit in online stores, and it is exactly what the EU Omnibus Directive aims to stop. If you sell to European consumers, every offer has to be accompanied by the lowest price that product had in the last 30 days. Doing that by hand, product by product, is unworkable once the catalog grows.
Omnibus for WooCommerce stores your shop's price history and shows the lowest price of the period on the product page, with the date it was in effect.
Price history and message: how Omnibus for WooCommerce works
Every price change is recorded in a table, in the Omnibus Price History section, as a new line or as a change to an existing entry. On the product edit screen in the admin you always see the lowest price and its date.
- Configurable period: you can change the interval that is taken into account.
- Sale products only or all: you choose whether the notice appears on every product or only on those with a discounted price.
- Where it is shown: shop catalog, product pages, archives and posts. You can also choose "Don't display any message" to turn it off.
- Shortcodes: they insert just the lowest price or the full message in any place that supports shortcodes, such as pages or posts.
- Scheduled offers with a past date: you can add a promotional price with a schedule whose start date has already passed.
- Subscription products: they are supported.
Multicurrency only with WPML
The plugin supports two types of currency conversion through WPML: price history in all the currencies used, automatic conversion, and the ability to set prices in the product settings. If you use another multicurrency plugin, don't count on that feature. And if you install the plugin on a store that is already running, the history starts building from that moment: it does not recover earlier prices that nobody recorded.
Nor does it replace legal advice: it displays data, but how and when to apply it to your offers is something to check with your advisor.
Frequently asked questions
Can I show the notice only on discounted products?
Yes. It is a setting: all products or only those on sale.
Can I change the 30 days?
Yes, the day interval is configurable.
Can I place the message outside the product page?
Yes, with shortcodes in pages, posts or any area that accepts them.
Does it work with subscriptions?
Yes, it includes support for subscription products.
Does it work with multicurrency stores?
With WPML, yes. With other currency systems, check it in the demo first.
History first, on-screen notice second
Before going live, check in the Omnibus Price History table that the prices of your sale products are being saved as you expect. Then decide where you want the message (product page, catalog or archives) and test with one discounted product and one without a discount. If you run scheduled offers, check that the lowest price and its date are calculated correctly before opening them to the public.
