The client picks by email and the photographer loses the afternoon
You send a link with two hundred photos, and back comes a message saying "I like 14, 27, the one on the stairs and the one where I am laughing, oh and not 89". Then another arrives correcting it. Then one from the partner, who wants different ones. Reconstructing the final selection from that thread takes longer than editing.
Picu turns that conversation into a gallery where the client marks what they want and confirms when they are done.
How it works
- The collection is created from the WordPress admin, uploading the photos or importing them from a server folder.
- It gets sent by email or as a link.
- The client marks and comments photo by photo, and confirms the selection at the end.
- The finals are delivered from the same gallery, with downloads for the client.
The details that prevent arguments
A selection goal can be set, so the client who booked twenty photos does not mark forty and then negotiate. Several people can give their opinion on the same collection, which is normal at a wedding. And galleries can expire on a date, with advance warning, which tidies the workflow and frees up space as well.
There is also watermarking and right-click blocking for the proofs. Worth saying plainly: that deters, it does not protect. Anyone can take a screenshot. The watermark does help, right-click blocking is little more than a gesture.
What to check first: the hosting
Picu lives in your WordPress and the photos are stored on your server. That is the advantage (no monthly fee, the gallery sits on your domain and the client sees your branding) and it is also the limit.
A wedding is several gigabytes. Ten weddings a year with galleries open for a few months turn cheap shared hosting into a bottleneck: slow uploads, timeouts and galleries that take an age to open. Before deciding, look at how much space you have and how your server copes with uploading a hundred images at once. That is the difference between this working well and being a constant nuisance.
