About PMPRO Goals Progress Bar Addon
For the membership site that wants to show a number, not for anyone looking for gamification
Asking someone to join a membership without telling them how many people already have is asking for a leap of faith. A sign-up campaign, a launch or a sales target often ends up as a figure only you see in the dashboard. This bar puts it on the page, where the person who is hesitating can see it.
It suits you if you already work with Paid Memberships Pro and have levels created: it needs that plugin installed and active. It is not for you if you expect points, badges or individual progress for each member: it is a shared goal bar for the whole site, which adds up revenue, sales or members from the levels you choose. Nor is it a statistics dashboard: it only draws the bar.
Revenue, sales or members: the figure worth showing
Each bar tracks a single type of goal:
- Members: counts sign-ups, for example "one hundred founders".
- Sales: counts transactions from the levels you choose.
- Revenue: adds up money until the amount you set, written as numbers only with no currency symbol.
Think it over before publishing revenue: a visitor learns more from "70 of 100 spots" than from a money figure, and a billing figure can raise questions you did not intend for people who are already members. If in doubt, start with members or sales.
PMPRO Goals Progress Bar Addon: block or shortcode, in your colors
You can place the bar in posts, pages or widgets. With the block editor you get a dedicated block; anywhere else, the [pmpro_goal] shortcode. The settings are the same in both:
- Levels to count: one or several, given by their ID. Required.
- Goal amount: also required.
- Text before and after: phrases that go with the progress and the total, so the bar says something like "we are already… of…".
- Colors: for the font, the fill and the background. By default the text is white, the fill green and the background gray.
If you are a developer, the add-on offers two actions, one before and one after the bar, and a filter for the text that follows the total.
A goal with a start and an end date
You can set a start date and an end date, so the bar only counts what happened in that period.
You can put several bars on the same page or spread them across the site. If you want the same one on several pages, the block can be reused or copied with its settings.
Questions before installing PMPRO Goals Progress Bar Addon
Does it work without Paid Memberships Pro?
No. It is an add-on for that plugin and reads its levels, sales and members.
Can I mix revenue and members in a single bar?
No, each bar measures one type of goal. If you want two, add two bars.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The block or the shortcode is enough to set it up. Code is only needed if you want to add something before or after the bar.
Can I change the look to match my design?
Yes, in colors and texts. If you need different shapes or animations, you will have to write your own CSS.
