About Porto Theme - Functionality
A WooCommerce store is won or lost on the template that repeats
Building a store with a multipurpose theme often ends in headers you cannot touch, product pages identical to those of other stores and a slow site caused by too many scripts. In a catalog, what drives the sale is not the homepage but the template that repeats across hundreds of product pages and categories. Porto Theme - Functionality is the plugin that accompanies the Porto theme, designed for that kind of project.
Porto Theme - Functionality is a piece of the theme, not a standalone plugin
It is a companion to the Porto theme: it is designed to work alongside it and not to be added to just any other theme. If you do not use Porto yet, think of the two as a set. If you already use it, this plugin is part of what completes it.
What the Porto theme lets you build
Porto is designed as a system of builders, so that each area of the site can be designed without touching code:
- Header Builder and Footer Builder: your own headers and footers, with search, language and currency switcher, wishlist and mini cart.
- WooCommerce builders: product page (Single Product Builder) and shop (Shop Builder), so the templates that repeat the most are not the default ones.
- Post Type Builder, Single Builder and Archive Builder: design for posts, portfolios and listings with the same style as the rest of the site.
- Popup Builder, Block Builder and display conditions: pop-ups and reusable blocks that only appear where you need them.
The theme also includes demos that import with one click and can be uninstalled, useful for seeing the result before adapting it to your brand.
This plugin does not work without the Porto theme
It helps to separate what is already solved from what is up to you:
- Already solved with Porto: builders for header, footer, product page, shop and archives; importable demos; settings for colors, typography and layout; a speed optimization wizard.
- You cover: installing and activating the Porto theme, because this plugin is only its companion.
- You cover: WooCommerce, with its payment gateways, taxes and shipping.
- You cover: product photos, copy and your returns policy.
- You or a professional cover: adapting a demo to your catalog if it has many variations or a very particular design.
Speed also depends on what you load
The theme includes options designed to lighten the site: merging CSS and JS, critical CSS, lazy loading of images and menus, and disabling what you do not use. Even so, the final result depends on your hosting, the weight of your images and how many animated sections you put on each page. A busy demo imported as is will not be as fast as one you have trimmed down.
Frequently asked questions before you decide
Can I use it with another theme?
That is not the intended use: it is the companion to the Porto theme and is designed to go with it.
Is it useful if I do not sell online?
Yes: Porto also includes corporate, portfolio and blog designs. But if you will not use WooCommerce, a good part of its store builders will not be needed.
Do I need to know how to code?
The builders exist to avoid that, although the theme accepts your own CSS and JS if you want to fine-tune something.
Is it as flexible as a standalone page builder?
With Porto you work inside its system of builders and options. Check in the demo that the templates you need, such as the product page or the category archive, can be built the way you want.
