About PremiumPress Dating Theme

A dating site does not fill with users, it fills on one side

It is the sector's structural problem and worth facing before buying software. A dating site needs both halves at once, and without balance it does not work: if a hundred men join and eight women, the experience is bad for the hundred and worse for the eight, who get flooded with messages and leave.

Which is why the projects that survive in this sector are almost never general. They are niche: a hobby, a profession, a community, a city, an age band. There balance is achievable and there is a reason to choose you over the large apps.

This template builds the technical side of that project.

What it brings

  • Profiles with configurable fields, differing by category, which is what allows adapting it to your niche.
  • Advanced search without reloading, with custom filters and search by postcode and distance radius.
  • An online now button, for finding whoever can reply right away.
  • Profiles with photos, video and music.
  • Virtual gifts, free or paid, for breaking the ice and billing along the way.
  • A basic chatroom, extendable with third-party software for voice and video.
  • Who liked your profile, in the user's private area.

How it bills

With membership packages and a monthly fee, deciding per tier what gets unlocked: sending messages, seeing who liked you, accessing the gifts. Users manage their payments and invoices from their own area.

That model is the sector standard because it works: people register free, and pay when somebody interests them. Putting the wall at the message rather than at registration is what fills the site.

What has to be solved and is not software

Three things, and all three decide whether the project survives its first year.

People's safety. There needs to be a way of reporting and blocking another user that works and gets attended to, plus written rules. Not an extra: it is what separates a community from a problem.

Fake profiles. They appear from the first week and ruin trust faster than anything else. Email verification at minimum, and some mechanism for reviewing photographs.

The data. A dating profile contains information the General Data Protection Regulation treats as special category: sexual orientation, sometimes beliefs or health. That requires an explicit lawful basis, clear information, and being able to delete the account and all its content on request. It is not optional paperwork in this particular sector, it is the strictest requirement of any a website covers.

Requirements

It is a WordPress theme and works with the free version of Elementor for layout. All configuration happens from the admin, without coding. Billing runs on the membership packages the theme itself brings.

Alternatives in the catalogue

If your project is more community than matchmaking (a club, a hobby, a professional group), a community theme fits better and is less complex to sustain: Ureg builds profiles, groups, forums and messaging on BuddyPress, and BuddyBoss is the more ambitious option, with an app-like feel.

And for the tiered billing side, if you prefer building it with a specialist plugin rather than what the theme brings, WooCommerce Memberships manages access and WooCommerce Subscriptions the recurring billing.
