About PRESSO - Modern Magazine / Newspaper / Viral Theme
Magazine readers almost never come in through the homepage
Whoever builds a news site thinks about the home page, but traffic lands on individual articles, from a social link or from Google, and most people leave after reading one. A magazine theme is judged by what it offers after that first article. PRESSO is designed for a blog, newspaper, editorial magazine, viral content or personal site, and much of its work happens on the post page.
How PRESSO tries to earn a second click
It brings together several tools designed to keep readers around:
- Related posts based on the condition you choose, plus a "Check also" section in articles.
- Infinite scrolling with a "Load More" button on the blog and archives, and four types of post navigation.
- Reading progress indicator and an optional sticky navigation bar.
- Breaking news to highlight the latest story.
- Instant AJAX search and a random article icon in the menu.
Over 40 Gutenberg blocks and several layouts to choose from
PRESSO works with the block editor and includes more than 40 blocks of its own: post and page sliders, category grids, image grids and sliders, and content blocks such as title, quote, authors or story highlight. For structure there are four layouts for listing posts, eight header layouts, four for pages and posts, and three site formats (boxed, full-width and frame). The mega menu has nine layouts, with columns, posts (latest, featured, random) and WooCommerce products.
Reviews with stars, points or percentage
If your site reviews products or services, the review system scores with three types of rating (stars, points or percentage), supports an unlimited rating breakdown and adds a score summary, a pros and cons section and another for affiliate links. Layout and color can be adjusted.
Advertising: ready-made placements and an AdBlock notice
The ad slots are already defined: above and below the header, above and below the post and its content, above the footer and as a background image. There is a shortcode for your own ads, ad widgets (one in 125×125 format) and an AdBlock warning with an editable message. The placements come with the theme; you supply the ads.
Post views and the cookie notice need separate plugins
- Already handled by the theme: layouts, blocks, reviews, ad slots, structured data for search engines, social sharing and widgets for authors, categories and posts.
- With another plugin: the per-post view counter, the social counter, the Instagram photo stream in the footer and the cookie notice (the theme is compatible, but it does not replace it).
- By hand or with a professional: translating the strings into your language (the po and mo files are included) and building a full store, because WooCommerce support does not turn this magazine theme into an e-commerce theme.
Common questions about PRESSO
Can it be translated and used in right-to-left languages? Yes: it is compatible with WPML and RTL, and includes the translation files.
Can I customize it without losing my changes? It includes a child theme so you can customize without touching the parent theme's files.
Does the demo import bring the preview photos? No: the demo images are not part of the imported content, so you will need to add your own.
Is it suitable for a forum or a store? It is compatible with bbPress and WooCommerce, but each one requires its own plugin and setup.
