A good-looking carousel and a carousel that sells are not the same
Worth starting here, even though it is not what a product page of this kind usually says. Rotating hero carousels work badly as a selling tool: the visitor takes in the first slide, almost nobody sees the rest, and a large moving image is one of the things that most penalises loading speed.
Prime Slider is a slider builder for Elementor with more than fifty widgets. Used well it is excellent. Used as a five-slide rotating hero, it is a problem with a nice appearance.
What it includes
- Hero and showcase sliders, its most developed category.
- Blog and content sliders, for pulling posts or cards into a carousel.
- WooCommerce sliders, for products, which is where this kind of widget genuinely pays off.
- Scrolling and animation effects, including full-page ones.
Where it is genuinely worth using
A carousel is useful when the visitor has already decided to look and wants to compare: related products, portfolio work, testimonials, client logos. There the movement helps rather than gets in the way.
At the top of the page, the alternative that almost always wins is a single still image with a clear message and a button. If you still want the slider up there, two or three slides at most, and make the first one work on its own.
What to bear in mind
It only works with Elementor. This is not a generic slider plugin: its widgets live inside the Elementor editor. If your site runs on Gutenberg, on Bricks or on the built-in editor of another theme, this product is of no use to you.
And as with any widget pack, every one you use adds weight to the page. Worth measuring speed before and after on the pages that actually matter.
