For people who publish daily and need a newspaper front page, not for a quiet blog
Building a news portal often ends with a homepage that looks equally flat on Monday and Friday: a chronological list where what matters gets lost among what is recent.
It works if you cover several sections (sports, politics, fashion, culture, technology) and want each one to have its own place. It is not the best option if you write one article a month or want a minimalist single-column design: the demo is dense, with many blocks, categories and tags at once.
Publicon's homepage: modules to organize what matters
The demo shows a homepage with blocks of different weight: a popular publications area, a most viewed list, a latest posts area and a newsletter subscription form.
- Listings and grids: the demo offers list, grid, masonry, timeline and justified layouts, so each section can have the format that suits it.
- Pagination: there is classic pagination and a load more button, useful if you want readers to keep reading without changing pages.
- Categories and tags: the menu and footer include thematic sections and tag clouds, which helps navigation on a site with a large archive.
Ten ways to present an article
The demo includes ten different post layouts, plus post formats such as gallery, image, quote, audio, video and link. For a news outlet this is more practical than it seems: a sports report, an audio interview and a photo gallery do not need the same template.
Still, variety does not replace judgment. If you use ten different layouts with no rule, the site will look like a collage. Pick two or three and assign them by type of content.
User registration and subscribers
The demo header includes login, registration with social networks and a login window. If you want a community of readers or restricted content, check in the demo how that flow behaves. A theme provides the interface; managing memberships or locked content normally requires another plugin.
