About Qrten – Block-Based WordPress Theme for Blog & Magazine
Building a content-heavy magazine or blog usually ends the same way: a flashy homepage, articles that look different from each other, ads that slow down loading and reviews made of pasted tables. Qrten is a block-based theme for people who publish regularly and need all of that to come from one system.
Your readers land on an article, not on the homepage
People who make a living from publishing tend to spend weeks on the home page and minutes on the article template, when a large share of visits comes from a search engine straight to a post. That is where it is decided whether the reader stays, sees the ad and clicks an affiliate link. Qrten doesn't only bring homepages, it also includes article, archive and author layouts ready to use, with no import needed.
Qrten templates for every part of the magazine
- 12+ header templates and 3+ footer templates.
- 8 home page templates and 8 blog page templates.
- 6 post templates, 5 archive templates and 5 author page templates.
- 7 global style variations and 7 selectable icon sets.
- Adjustable content width and sidebar width.
Everything is edited with the WordPress block editor, including the Full-Site Editor (FSE). If you prefer to copy a demo, there is an automatic import.
Qrten blocks by type of publication
The theme adds more than 60 blocks of its own: post elements and meta, post slider, mega menu, views counter, estimated reading time, pop-up, sliding panel and sharing buttons. Each block also offers spacing, conditional visibility and print options. This is what each profile will use most:
News magazine
Sliders and query blocks with extra options, popular posts by views and an inline related-posts block inside the text.
Review or affiliate blog
A review block with global templates (4 included), three rating types (stars, points or percentage), unlimited rating breakdown, a summary and a pros and cons section. The review system also works for placing affiliate links.
Recipe blog
Recipe blocks with a template, nutrition information and step-by-step (how-to) instructions.
Publisher who lives off ads
An ad manager with ready-made placements, responsive image or Google ads, the page-level ads format and an AdBlock detector with a customizable pop-up.
Speed and SEO: what Qrten leaves ready
The theme is built with Core Web Vitals in mind, with lazy loading of images and lightweight code. It marks up the site with JSON-LD structured data, lets you choose the H tag of each block and supports ALT text for images. For typography, it offers local Google Fonts, useful if privacy in Europe worries you, although that does not replace your cookie notice or your privacy policy.
Questions before choosing Qrten for your magazine
Do I have to import a demo? No: the templates can be used directly. The import is for when you want to reproduce a full demo.
Is it suitable for a small personal blog? Yes, it includes templates for blogs. If you only write now and then, it may be more than you need.
Does it support several languages? It works with Polylang and WPML, and has RTL support.
Does it work with caching? It is compatible with Autoptimize, WP Super Cache and other popular cache plugins.
The shop and languages depend on other plugins
Qrten includes 3 product catalog templates, but to sell you need WooCommerce. To translate the site you need Polylang or WPML. Ads require your own Google Ads or AdSense account, and final speed also depends on your hosting, your images and the plugins you add.
