About Gravity Perks Date Time Calculator
When the form collects dates, but you do the math by hand
A customer enters when their booking starts and ends, and you open a calculator to work out how many days or hours that is and how much to charge. Gravity Forms collects dates and times, but it does not do math with them. Gravity Perks Date Time Calculator fills that gap: it lets you use date and time fields inside form calculations, combined with number fields.
A room rental, step by step with Date Time Calculator
Picture a form for renting a room, a piece of equipment or a vehicle. Here is how it runs:
- Step 1: the customer picks a start and an end. You use standard Gravity Forms date and time fields.
- Step 2: the duration is calculated. The plugin gets the time between two dates or times and expresses it in years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes or seconds, depending on what you want to show.
- Step 3: the duration becomes a price. Gravity Forms handles the charge: the plugin calculates, but it does not charge.
- Step 4: only the days you bill are counted. It can count weekdays and weekend days between two dates, which helps if the rental only runs Monday to Friday. If you need to exclude specific holidays, check in the demo whether that is possible before designing the form.
In rental businesses, disputes rarely come from the rate; they come from how time is counted: does the pick-up day count? Is one hour and ten minutes billed as one hour or two? Decide that rule before building the formula and test an edge case with real dates.
Common questions before installing it
Does it work without Gravity Forms?
No. It is an add-on for Gravity Forms and works inside its calculation editor.
Does it only calculate durations?
It also calculates age from a date of birth, and working days or weekend days between two dates.
Is this plugin still evolving?
No, the developer has retired it in favor of another perk. We explain this at the end.
Age: calculate it from the date of birth
With a date of birth, the plugin calculates the user's age. It is a calculation on what the person declares: the plugin does not verify that the date is true.
It is being phased out: Advanced Calculations takes its place
Worth knowing before you choose: the developer considers this plugin deprecated and its function moves to Advanced Calculations, also from Gravity Perks, which covers the same date and time operations plus more calculations. Date Time Calculator makes sense if you maintain forms that already depend on it. If you are starting from scratch, consider going straight to Advanced Calculations.
