A rating in Google starts in your review form

You install one plugin to collect opinions and another for structured data. Each does its part, but the average that belongs in the markup lives in the first one, and the second needs to learn about every review that is added, deleted or moderated.

Rating markup is not written: it is calculated from the reviews, which is why collecting and marking up are worth solving in the same place.

A direct case is a store that wants opinions more useful than a single score. You create a setup for the product content type, choose several criteria and turn on photos. The Verified Purchase badge marks those who bought.

Product markup includes name, description, images, SKU, offer with price and availability, brand and condition, plus GTIN or MPN when they exist. It updates when prices, stock or reviews change. It also covers variable products, shipping and return policy. Test the result on a real product before extending it to the catalog.

What the plugin asks for and what Google decides

• AI on your account: AI features need your own OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini key.
• Editor: the schema and FAQ generator works in Gutenberg, not in the Classic Editor.
• Saving: Save Schema stores the markup, but the post is updated separately.
• Anonymous reviews: without reCAPTCHA they raise the risk of spam.
• Search results: valid markup does not oblige Google to show it.

Requirements and first review setup

You need WordPress with PHP and MySQL, and the mod_rewrite, GD and Imagick modules on the server.

1. Install and activate the plugin, and complete the site information in its settings.
2. Open SchemaEngine AI, Setup Reviews and Add New.
3. Write an internal title and choose the content type.
4. Enable reviews and choose criteria, layouts and pagination.
5. In Settings, turn on what you want to use, because all options start off.
6. Publish the setup and check a page with Google's Rich Results Test.
