When your blog has more text than photos
Many blog themes are designed to show off big images. If your thing is writing, the result is a shop window with gaps: empty thumbnails, filler headers and text lost among decoration. RibTun starts from the opposite idea: it is a minimalist theme for writers' blogs where the content comes first.
People who visit a writing blog don't come to look, they come to read, sometimes for many minutes at a stretch. Typography, line spacing and column width matter more there than any animation. RibTun puts readability at the center of its design, and that is exactly what a loyal reader appreciates without being able to explain why.
From the imported demo to your first published text
Picture a fresh WordPress install and several texts ready to go out. This is what the path with RibTun looks like:
- Choosing the feel of the blog. There are four example demos: Classic & Modern, Fullwidth Blog, Minimal Typewriter and Grid Layout. They are examples of what you can do, not closed molds.
- Importing the demo. The one-click automatic importer builds the structure for you, with no code. After that you replace the sample content with your own, so review it and delete whatever you won't use.
- Choosing the typeface. From the theme panel you switch between more than 700 fonts from the Google library. For a writing blog this is the setting that shows the most: try a real long text, not a short paragraph.
- Deciding the home page. The theme relies on Revolution Slider and Essential Grid for sliders and grids. They are plugins with their own settings.
- Connecting with your readers. It includes an Instagram feed, a Facebook widget and a Twitter feed to bring your social networks to the blog.
Common questions before choosing RibTun
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Between the demo importer and the theme panel, the usual tasks get done without touching code.
Does it look good on mobile?
Yes, it is a responsive design made to adapt to any screen size. Even so, open the demo on your phone and read a long text before deciding.
Can I change the typography?
Yes, from the theme panel, with more than 700 Google fonts.
If you need to sell your books, RibTun is not a store
RibTun is a blog theme. It is not a store or a tool for selling books, courses or subscriptions, so if that is your goal you will need another solution besides the theme. Nor is it a theme for a photography portfolio.
If your priority is to be read, to have the design step aside and your writing take the center of the screen, RibTun fits what you are looking for.
