About SecondLine – Bolden WordPress Theme
If you have several shows and want them to look like a single network
Building a website for several podcasts often ends up as a blog where every show's episodes get mixed together, or as a separate site for each show that nobody visits in full. Bolden is designed to avoid that: it brings all your shows together on one site.
It suits you if you run a podcast network, a collective with several shows, or a podcaster who already has more than one program. It also works with a single podcast if you like the design, although you will use less of its multi-show side.
It is not for you if you expect the theme to do all the podcast work:
- It is a theme, not an audio hosting or distribution service. You publish episodes with a compatible podcasting plugin (PowerPress, Seriously Simple Podcasting, SimplePodcastPress, PodLove) or with your own or external MP3 files.
- Page layout relies on Elementor. The free version is the base and the paid one is not essential.
- WooCommerce is supported, but the theme is built for podcasts, not for setting up a store.
A content type of its own so each show has its place
Besides episodes, Bolden adds a content type called Shows. You can present your content in several ways:
- Masonry grid of shows.
- Episode list in a single column.
- Episode grid from 2 to 6 columns.
- Shows carousel.
- Filtering by podcast and show categories.
- Numbered pagination, a load more button or infinite scroll.
It also includes a featured slider, for both shows and episodes, useful for pushing a new release or the show you care most about. If your archive is large, think about which pagination you prefer: infinite scroll is comfortable on mobile, but paged navigation makes it easier to reach an older episode.
Audio and video wherever you need them, with the sources you already use
The player can appear anywhere in the theme, works in all browsers and on mobile, and supports a download button or the option to open the episode in a new window. It accepts MP3 files hosted on your site or externally, and embeds from Libsyn, SoundCloud, MixCloud, YouTube and Vimeo. It is handy if your shows live on different platforms and you want to see them together.
Bolden with your brand: colors, fonts and Elementor
The theme is customized from the WordPress Customizer. You can pick any color for the whole scheme and switch between more than 900 Google Fonts. With Elementor it brings its own add-ons and templates, and you can turn design elements on or off and adjust the content query with simple controls.
It includes one click demo import, is responsive, is ready to be translated with your favorite translation plugin and supports RTL orientation. Before importing anything, check in the demo whether the shows front page fits the number of programs you have.
Questions before building your network with Bolden
Does it work for a single podcast?
Yes. Its strength is multi-show, but if you like the design you can use it with just one show.
Do I need Elementor Pro?
Not necessarily. The theme relies on Elementor, which has a free version, and it brings its own add-ons and templates.
Does it work with my podcasting plugin?
It is compatible with PowerPress, Seriously Simple Podcasting (Castos), SimplePodcastPress and PodLove. If you use another one, try it first on a test installation with the demo.
Can it be used in other languages?
Yes: it is ready to be translated with a translation plugin and supports right-to-left writing.
