A creative portfolio is won or lost in the first moments of browsing: if visitors wait between pages, or your photos look small and blurry on a large screen, they leave before reaching your best work. Serano is made for designers, artists and photographers who want the presentation of their projects to be as polished as the projects themselves.
From first glance to project: how a portfolio flows with Serano
Imagine you are a photographer who wants to show three different series. This is the typical journey:
- Home page: you pick a showcase slider. The theme offers several variants: carousel, portfolio grid, fullscreen, infinite lists, reverse columns and gallery. Each presents your projects differently, so you can try which one suits your style.
- Navigation: Ajax page transitions avoid the abrupt jump between sections.
- Project: each piece is shown with the portfolio templates, and the theme supports video inside them.
- Contact: there are contact map and error page options, so the end of the journey is also taken care of.
The images in the demos are for demonstration only and are not in the package: you will need to upload your own, and a visual portfolio is only as good as your photos.
Serano and the builder: Elementor and Gutenberg
The theme relies on Elementor: it includes its own block pack that is requested as a required plugin, options for the Elementor container and compatibility with Elementor Pro header and footer templates. If you plan to use those templates, you need the Pro version. It also loads Gutenberg styles when Ajax is on, so you can mix native editor blocks with your pages.
Questions people ask when comparing portfolios
Is it good for anything besides a portfolio?
Yes, it has blog, header, footer and typography options, but its strength is showing projects. If you are after a shop or a booking site, this is not the right theme.
Can I run the site in several languages?
It is compatible with WPML, and includes .po/.mo files to translate the theme. The WPML plugin is separate.
Can I build the site from a demo?
Yes, it includes one-click demo data import and the XML files. Remember that the demo images are not included.
Does it look good on Retina screens?
It is ready for high-density displays, and comes with more than 550 Retina-ready icons.
Colors, typography and settings without touching code
The options panel groups general settings, header, footer, showcase, portfolio, blog, styling, typography, contact map, error page and import and export. You can choose light or dark schemes with background and text colors, which is very useful in portfolios where a dark background makes photos stand out. There is also a graphical shortcode generator to add elements without typing them by hand.
If you work with a developer: child theme and code
Serano supports child themes, uses valid HTML5 and CSS3 and is code-level optimized for SEO. That does not replace good content: the titles and texts of your projects are still up to you. Autoplay sliders are available in showcase and carousel, but test on mobile how they behave with your own files, especially if you use heavy video.
