Hearing about an order before someone else spots it
In a store with a team, a failed order or a refund is often discovered late: someone glances at the WooCommerce dashboard by chance, or finds out from an angry customer's email. ShopMagic Slack Addon sends the alert to Slack the moment the event happens, in the channel where your team is already talking.
The practical truth for this kind of store is that the standard WooCommerce notification email ends up in one person's inbox and gets lost among other messages. A shared channel means everyone sees the alert and someone can reply right there.
Which alerts you can send and how they are customized
- WooCommerce orders: you choose when the message is posted, for example based on order status.
- New WordPress posts: it can also notify the channel when a post is published, useful if you have writers and want the team to see it right away.
- Channel, name and emoji: you decide which channel each alert goes to and what name and emoji it appears with, so failed orders are not mistaken for completed ones.
- Message: you write the text of the message yourself.
How it fits inside ShopMagic
This add-on does not work on its own: it needs the core ShopMagic plugin installed. Once there, the Slack notification is one more action in an automation, so you can combine it with other actions, such as sending an email, and with ShopMagic filters so the alert fires only when a condition is met.
It is compatible with other ShopMagic add-ons, free and paid. For example, advanced filters let you condition the action on criteria such as order total. That way you avoid flooding the channel with every small sale and highlight only the ones that matter.
Deciding whether Slack works as your alert channel
Before installing, be clear about what it implies: it is a bridge to Slack, not an order management tool. The message informs, but the order is still handled in WooCommerce. If your team does not use Slack daily, the alert will end up like the email: nobody will look at it.
Does it work without the core ShopMagic plugin?
No. It is an add-on and requires the core ShopMagic plugin.
Does it only notify about orders?
No: it can also notify about new WordPress posts, besides WooCommerce order events.
Can I choose which order status triggers the message?
Yes. You choose when the alert is posted, for example based on order status, and which channel it goes to.
Can I change the sender name and emoji?
Yes, the name, emoji and message text can be customized.
Can I avoid alerts for small orders?
With ShopMagic filters you can set conditions on the automation. Check which criteria your setup supports before launching it.
