A news site's readers come in through the article, not the home page
Whoever sets up a blog or a digital newspaper spends days choosing the home page. It is understandable, because it is the first thing you see when opening the theme. But on a news site a large share of visitors never see it: they arrive from a search engine or a social network straight onto an article, read it and decide right there whether they will come back.
Soledad, by PenciDesign, comes with more than 6,886 demo home pages. The decision that really matters lies elsewhere: the post template, which is where people read, where ads are shown, where the next article is offered and where someone decides to subscribe or close the tab.
That is why the most interesting thing about the theme is not its catalogue of home pages, but that it includes a builder for the single post page.

How to design the post that matters
Decide where the ad goes before the colour. With unlimited placements, the temptation is to fill the text with ad blocks. Each one earns, but it also pushes the reader towards the exit. Start with few and add while measuring.
Offer the next step at the end of the text. The reader who finishes an article is the most valuable one you have. What you put in front of them at that moment decides whether the visit stays at one page or three.
Test the post on a real phone. It is where many people arriving from social networks read, and where a badly placed ad covers the text.
The RSS aggregator and AI, without falling into spam
The RSS aggregator allows autoblogging, that is, importing and publishing content from other sites on yours. Google's spam policies explicitly flag as abuse republishing content from other sites without adding original value or citing the source, and reproducing their feeds without offering anything to the user. The same goes for the AI content generator if it is used to produce pages in bulk. Use them to curate and link, not to fill.
And with so many modules, each one you enable adds weight: turn on only what you will use.
Setting it up on your server
It is compatible with WordPress 6.0 to 7.0, with WooCommerce 6 to 9 and with PHP 8.5 since version 8.7.3. It works with WPML, bbPress, BuddyPress, MailChimp for WordPress, Co-Authors Plus and The Events Calendar, and includes multilingual and right to left language support.
- Choose the demo by the structure of its home page and, above all, by how it handles the post.
- Import it on a staging install.
- Adjust the single post template before the home page.
- Enable modules one at a time, measuring speed after each one.

There is no published minimum. It is compatible with PHP 8.5, so it is worth testing on your server before launch.
