A portfolio that reads like a career, not an album
Uploading photos of your work to a website is easy. The hard part is getting a gallerist, a curator or someone looking to commission work to understand, in a single visit, who you are and why you are taken seriously. Many artist portfolios end up as a grid of images with no context, and visitors looking for a track record leave without finding one.
Steven Mosk starts from that idea. Its demo revolves around a Brooklyn artist with a personal introduction, featured work, awards, testimonials and press news. In other words, the site works as a visual résumé, not just a showcase: the work comes with evidence that it circulates.
Pages designed for exhibitions, press and contact
The theme includes templates for what an artist usually needs to publish:
- A portfolio with featured works and a link to view all the work.
- Exhibition pages, with examples of solo and group shows.
- A press and news section, for reviews, museum listings and open calls.
- Team, pricing and FAQ pages, plus password, 404 error, maintenance and coming soon pages.
Three headers, three footers and six ways to lay out the blog
You can choose between three header styles and three footer styles. For the blog there are listing, listing 2, masonry, three-column masonry, grid and three-column grid layouts, with the sidebar on the left, on the right or removed.
Posts support gallery, image, link, quote and video formats. That works for a studio diary: a video of your process, a critic's quote, a link to a review or a series of photos of an installation.
Is Steven Mosk enough if you also want to sell work online?
It is a presentation theme. It does not include a shop or a cart, so if you sell prints or artwork you will have to add an e-commerce plugin yourself and check how it fits the design. Also, everything you see in the demo (texts, awards, testimonials, dates, news) is sample content: replace it with your own and do not leave anyone else's quotes or awards. If you link privacy and cookie policies, write them for your own case.
Does it work if I am not a street artist?
However, the demo texts talk about a street art and collage artist, so you will need to rewrite them in your own voice.
Can I skip pages like pricing or team?
They are pages in the sample menu. If you do not need them, do not publish or link them; you are left with portfolio, about, press and contact.
What should I check in the demo before deciding?
Picture your own work in the grids and in the header style you prefer, and check how it looks on mobile. If your work is very vertical or very panoramic, this is the best moment to find out whether the format works in your favor.
