About Tickera - Pushover Add-on

Selling event tickets has an attention problem: sales arrive in bursts, at any hour, and the only way to know how things are going is usually to open your email or log into the WordPress dashboard again and again. Tickera - Pushover Add-on turns every order into an alert on your phone or desktop.

The organizer who can't keep staring at the dashboard

Whoever runs a festival, a workshop or a conference isn't sitting in front of a computer. They're negotiating with suppliers, setting up the venue or looking after a sponsor. A reliable alert lets them switch off and find out only when there's something to see.

What a sale looks like, step by step, with Tickera - Pushover Add-on

1. Install the Pushover app

You download Pushover on every device you want to alert: iPhone, Android, iPad or desktop. You sign in once and the device registers itself with your account.

2. Paste two keys into Tickera

On the pushover.net dashboard you copy your User Key and create an Application Token for Tickera. You paste both into the Tickera settings and the connection is done. Important: this add-on doesn't work on its own, it needs the Tickera plugin, and the Pushover app has its own fee that is paid directly to them after a free trial (check their terms on their website).

3. A ticket sells

When an order is completed, all your registered devices receive an alert with the buyer's name, the event, the ticket type and the total. You read it from the lock screen, without opening anything. If you want to act, you tap the alert and go to the order in the WordPress admin.

4. You decide how much it interrupts you

Here the setting is done by Pushover, not Tickera:

  • Priority: normal for routine sales, high so the alert breaks through silent mode.
  • Custom sound: a different tone for sales, so you know what happened without looking.
  • Quiet hours: night alerts are held back and arrive at sunrise.
  • Per-device setting: your phone can ring while the laptop stays quiet.

What to expect and what not

The add-on alerts you to new ticket orders. It is not a reporting system or a statistics dashboard: it doesn't summarize sales or compare events, it only alerts you to each purchase. It also doesn't work without Tickera, so if you use another ticketing system it won't be of use to you. Also check in your Pushover settings what priority you give the alerts: with normal priority, Do Not Disturb is respected and you could miss a big sale while you sleep.

Several people, one alert

Pushover lets you register unlimited devices under one account. If you are part of a production team, you can register your partner's phone, the phone of whoever works the box office and the office laptop, and all of them will receive the same alert with the same key.
