About Tickera Terms & Conditions
When the refund argument starts after the party
You sell tickets, the buyer ends up without a plan or shows up without photo ID, and asks for their money back. If they never saw your conditions, it is your word against theirs. Tickera Terms & Conditions puts your rules in front of the payment button and requires acceptance before the purchase is completed.
Events have one particular trait: a ticket can't go back on a warehouse shelf. Once the date passes, the product is gone and only the conflict remains. That is why the rules (refunds, minimum age, dress code, ID at the door) weigh more here than in an ordinary shop, and why it pays to have them actively accepted.
How Tickera Terms & Conditions works at checkout
- Required checkbox: the complete order button stays disabled until the buyer ticks it. If they try to submit the form without ticking it, a validation error appears.
- On-screen text or a link: you can write a summary of your terms right above the payment button or link to a full page.
- Edited like any WordPress page: the text is written in the Tickera settings, in the terms and conditions section, with the usual editor. If you change your refund policy, you save and the change shows up at every checkout.
It needs no code and no template edits: you paste the text, save, and the checkbox appears at the Tickera checkout.
What text to write for your type of event
Concerts and festivals
This is where disputes tend to pile up: no-refund policy, deadlines before the event, minimum age and ID at entry. Keep it short and specific, because someone buying in a hurry reads two lines, not ten paragraphs.
Conferences and training
It is common to clarify whether the ticket can be transferred to another person, what happens if the programme changes, or whether there is a refund on cancellation. A summary on screen plus a link to the full policy works well.
Events with entry rules
Dress code, camera bans, age restrictions or venue requirements. Ticking the box does not replace control at the door, but it makes it clear that nobody can say they did not know.
Different terms per event: what it doesn't do out of the box
The add-on works with a single text for the whole site. If each event has its own rules, the usual approach is to write brief common terms that link to the specific policy on each event page. Another option is to add per-event consent fields with Tickera's Custom Forms add-on.
It is also not for the WooCommerce checkout: WooCommerce already includes its own terms checkbox. This add-on is for Tickera's own checkout, which does not include one.
One warning: an acceptance checkbox is one piece of regulatory compliance, not all of it. If GDPR worries you, you also need a proper privacy policy and legal advice. The add-on does not guarantee legal compliance.
Frequently asked questions about Tickera Terms & Conditions
Does it work as evidence in a dispute?
Requiring a checkbox before purchase is a widespread pattern (click-wrap) used to show that the terms were displayed and accepted at the point of sale. What it is worth in each case depends on your situation and the applicable law.
Can I change the text whenever I want?
Yes. It is edited like a WordPress page and the change appears instantly at checkout.
Does it slow down the purchase process?
No, it just adds a checkbox to the form.
Do I need Tickera to use it?
Yes, it is a Tickera add-on and does not work on its own.
