A university has two websites inside the same website
One is institutional: who you are, what can be studied, how to get in, what gets researched. It is visited by prospective students, their families and anyone looking for partnerships. The other is the campus: the people already inside, with their classes, submissions and marks. Confusing them is the classic mistake, because the first has to persuade and the second has to work.
UniCamp covers both: it ships the institutional pages built and the course system already integrated.
The institutional side
- Programme and department pages, with the detail of each course of study.
- Admissions, the page that decides most and the one usually handled worst.
- Campus life, research and alumni, the sections that give an institution credibility.
- Events with ticket sales, through Events Manager, for open days and conferences.
The campus side
The course system is Tutor LMS Pro, one of the well-known names in the sector. From it come the course builder, quizzes with ten question types, assignment submissions, prerequisites between subjects, content released on a schedule, student and instructor dashboards, and the certificate builder.
For charging there are three routes depending on the model: WooCommerce if you sell individual courses, or Paid Membership Pro and Restrict Content Pro if what you sell is subscription access.
What to know about the bundled plugins
The theme ships the plugins it needs, but without their own licence. They work, and the registration prompts can be ignored, but automatic updates for those plugins require buying their licence separately. On a product holding student data this is not a minor detail: worth having a plan for keeping them current.
