About Unos Magazine Vu
For people who publish daily and fear their homepage looks like just another magazine
On a site with hundreds of articles, readers often arrive through one, read it and leave, because the homepage shows them nothing else of interest. Unos Magazine Vu is designed for content-driven sites that want to present their posts in different ways (sliders, carousels, widgets) so the visit does not end at the first article.
On an editorial website almost nobody comes back for the design: they come back because they find something new when they arrive. That is why how posts are distributed across the homepage and archives matters more than how many colors the theme supports.
It suits you if you publish often, want to highlight posts in blocks and don't mind installing a companion plugin. It does not suit you if you expect the theme's own sliders, carousels and widgets to work without installing anything else: they are activated with the HootKit plugin. Nor is it a theme designed first for online stores: WooCommerce is supported and adds display options, but the focus is on content.
Unos Magazine Vu and HootKit: where what you see in the demo comes from
Much of what makes the demo homepage look like a magazine depends on HootKit:
- Post sliders, touch-friendly and responsive, or image sliders with your own photos.
- The theme's own widgets, which you can place in the widget areas.
- Carousels with existing posts or products, or with your own images to show sponsors, profiles and the like.
The Premium version also adds exclusive widgets, unlimited sliders with as many slides as you need, and vertical sliding lists of posts or WooCommerce products. If something from the demo does not appear on your site, first check that HootKit is active.
Homepage, archives and footer: what you adjust from the Customizer
The theme does not force a single skeleton on you:
- Boxed or stretched (full width) design, with one click.
- One sidebar, two or none, assigned separately to posts, pages and archives.
- Footer with 9 layouts and up to 4 columns of different widths, filled with widgets.
- Site title, logo or both, along with the description.
- An unlimited accent color applied to many elements of the site.
- Links to 69 social profiles and 991 Font Awesome icons.
For a large blog, the most useful Premium additions are the extra archive layouts (including a Pinterest-style mosaic), the optional sticky header and the go-to-top button. It also lets you build landing pages and one-page websites with smooth scrolling, and a custom 404 page that guides visitors back to your content.
Color and typography by area: Premium version only
Fine-grained customization comes with Premium: different colors and backgrounds per section, and its own typography (font, size and color) for the menu, top bar, headings, sidebar and footer. It includes more than 600 Google Fonts, background patterns and the option to upload your own images.
It also adds an automatic lightbox (turning WordPress galleries into sliders inside a lightbox), icons on menu links and a field to add your own JavaScript to the header, useful for Google Analytics or AdSense without touching theme files.
Light with lots of content, and ready to extend
The theme is built without bloat: it uses WordPress core functions, few external libraries and reduces database queries. It is a good base if your archive keeps growing, although final speed also depends on your hosting, your images and your plugins.
If you work with code, it has actions and hooks to extend it with a child theme, LESS files for the stylesheet and a custom CSS field. It is translation-ready (for example with Polylang), and Premium lets you export and import settings when you change servers.
