Your beach house appears on Airbnb, on Booking.com and on your own site. Each channel keeps its own calendar, and a guest can book on one the same nights another guest just took on the other. Then you are the one calling someone to undo their vacation.

If you rent across several channels, you manage availability before you manage listings. Villagio, by MotoPress, is a vacation rental theme for villas, inns, B&Bs and hostels, and it comes with MotoPress Hotel Booking included. With it, your site stops being a shop window and starts taking bookings, connected by iCal to Airbnb and Booking.com to help avoid overbooking.

Availability, rates and payments in one engine

Prices support seasons, per-guest variables and weekly or monthly rates. There are percentage or fixed coupons, taxes and fees, and extra services added to the booking. Automated emails are editable and reports show statistics and earnings.

For payment, the built-in gateways are PayPal, 2Checkout, Braintree, Stripe and Beanstream, with Bancontact, iDEAL and SEPA Direct Debit through Stripe. Deposits can be a fixed amount or a percentage. Payment on arrival or by bank transfer is also accepted.

How each property is presented

The design is responsive, with wide or boxed mode, a header slider, a testimonials section, galleries and multi-column property listings. The theme uses native WordPress functionality and Getwid Blocks, which adds blocks for testimonials, Instagram galleries, property videos, sliders and carousels.

If you build with Elementor, MotoPress offers a free add-on with 17 widgets for search, calendar, listings and accommodation pages. It needs Elementor installed. The booking plugin also supports the block editor and Divi.

One building or several villas, but not a chain

Villagio does not support hotel chains, meaning several hotels with several rooms each.

Among its features there is no agent profile or real estate sales funnel. Its ground is renting by the night.

Several pieces are separate paid add-ons: Payment Reminder, Guest Reviews, Mailchimp, Event-driven Notifications, PDF Invoices, a checkout fields editor, multi-currency and WooCommerce Payments. If you are counting on guest reviews or PDF invoices, add them to the plan from the start.

Theme, rates and calendars, in order

The package needs WordPress and the Hotel Booking plugin that comes with it. Setup follows this order:

1. Install the theme and use the one-click installation.
2. Create each accommodation with its gallery, services and capacity.
3. Set seasons, rates and stay rules.
4. Enable the payment gateway and decide whether to ask for a deposit.
5. Connect the calendars by iCal to Airbnb and Booking.com, and run a test booking on each channel.

Booklium, Sunway and the plugin on its own

Booklium is another MotoPress accommodation theme with the same engine included. Sunway also relies on Hotel Booking and suits hotels and rentals. If you already have a theme you like, MotoPress Hotel Booking is available as a plugin and Hotel Booking Notifier schedules emails before or after check-in and check-out. For selling properties with an agent panel, Houzez is the real estate option.
