About WooCommerce Bulk Stock Management
A delivery arrives, or you finish the warehouse count, and the stock needs updating: open a product, change the number, save, go back to the list and repeat. With a hundred references and size and color variations, the afternoon disappears and, worse, some item always gets missed and the store sells what it doesn't have.
A warehouse count from start to finish with Bulk Stock Management
This is what you do with this plugin when you come back from the warehouse with your count sheet:
- You open its own screen. It's under Products > Stock Management and shows a list of products and variations with their units in stock. Each variation appears as a line, not hidden inside the product page.
- You narrow down what you'll touch. You filter by product type, by whether it manages stock, by stock status and by category. If today you only counted the T-shirt section, you work only with that category.
- You sort the way your sheet is laid out. You can sort by name, ID, SKU or quantity. If your paper goes by SKU, the screen does too.
- You type in the quantities. At the end of each row there's a field to set the stock number, so you correct many products in a single view.
- You select and apply bulk actions. You tick checkboxes and mark several products as in stock or out of stock.
One limit to keep clear: the plugin sets quantities and statuses. It doesn't edit prices, attributes, categories or SKUs. For changes like those you need another tool (for example, one for bulk editing fields).
Backorders across a whole category, without opening every page
Some stores want to accept orders for an item even when it has sold out, and others prefer to cut the sale. The bulk actions cover all three stances: allow backorders, allow them while notifying the customer, or don't allow them. You apply them to many products or variations at once, so an entire category follows the same rule instead of depending on what someone ticked one day on each page.
The printed report that works in the warehouse
The "View stock report" button generates a printable list of the products that have inventory management enabled. Each product and each variation gets its own line. It's useful for taking a sheet to the warehouse and ticking items off, or for sharing the figures with whoever runs it. Products without stock management don't appear, so if one is missing, check that the option is active on its page.
When WooCommerce is enough and when this plugin pays off
WooCommerce already allows bulk editing from the product list, but it is more limited with variable and grouped products, and it doesn't offer a view focused only on stock. If you sell few references with almost no variations, you probably don't need it. If your catalog is large or you restock often, the dedicated screen saves steps and reduces oversights.
Nor is it a purchasing system: it has no suppliers, purchase orders or demand forecasting. If you need that, look for a more complete inventory extension.
