About WooCommerce Flexible Pricing
Lowering prices in an online store often ends in scattered coupons, manual markdowns product by product, and offers nobody remembers activating or who they apply to. Over time your margin leaks away and you can't tell which promotion caused it.
Discounts with rules: the point of WooCommerce Flexible Pricing
A discount is more profitable when it depends on a purchase, not when it's handed to everyone. A 10% for anyone cuts your margin; a 10% that only kicks in when the order passes a certain amount, or when the customer has already spent a certain sum, pushes people to buy more. This plugin is built for that: discounts that apply only when a condition you define is met.
Five levels where you can apply the discount
- Product: at product or variation level. Example: buy a t-shirt and get another free, or buy 5 mugs and the following ones get 20% off.
- Order: by order total brackets. Example: 10% from 100, 15% from 200, or a fixed amount depending on the range the order falls into.
- Order history: rewards customers who have already spent a certain amount over a period (the last year, the current month or the last 100 days).
- Category: a direct discount for a whole category, or one triggered by buying in one category and applied to products in another.
- Role or group: different discounts depending on the user's WordPress or WooCommerce role.
In all of them you can choose between a percentage, a fixed amount or a specific price.
BOGOF and BOGOHO: get one free or at half price
Buy one get one free (BOGOF) and buy one get one half off (BOGOHO) promotions are set up with the quantity the customer must buy and the quantity they receive at a discount. The discounted product can be the same one or a different one, even from another category.
Group discounts: staff, subscribers, registered customers
It works with WordPress roles (subscriber, author, editor) and WooCommerce roles (customer, shop manager). If you need more roles, you can create them with the User Role Editor plugin, or create groups with the Groups plugin. That way you can offer, for instance, a discount to people who join your newsletter (by assigning them a group when they sign up) or a special price for your team. It also integrates with WooCommerce coupons.
What you'll have to sort out yourself
- Already solved: rules by product, order, history, category and role; BOGOF and BOGOHO promotions; percentage, fixed amount or price.
- With another plugin: customer groups need Groups, and custom roles need User Role Editor.
- By hand: deciding which rules leave you enough margin. The plugin applies what you configure, but it doesn't calculate whether an offer makes you lose money.
- To check: if you plan to combine several rules with coupons at once, test in a staging store how they add up before launching them.
