About WooCommerce Force Sells
Selling a service that can't be delivered without a part, a charge or a mandatory add-on ends in incomplete orders: the customer buys the repair and forgets the screen, and you have to email them to fix it. WooCommerce Force Sells avoids that email: it links one product to another so they go into the cart together.
A repair order, step by step with WooCommerce Force Sells
Imagine you sell an iPad screen repair. This is how it works:
- You choose the main product (the service) and link the new screen to it as a force-sell product.
- The customer adds the service to the cart and the screen comes with it, in the same quantity they chose for the service.
- In the cart you decide, depending on the type of force sell, whether the customer can remove the part or change its quantity, or whether it stays locked.
Normal or synced: the decision that changes the cart
There are two types of force sell, and it pays to choose well.
Normal force sell
The linked product is added with the main one, but the customer can remove it or change its quantity.
Synced force sell
The customer can't remove it or change its quantity. If they remove the main product, the linked one disappears too, and if they change the main quantity, the linked one adjusts. In the cart it is marked as "linked", so it is clear that it is part of the main purchase.
Uses that go beyond a spare part
You can link any WooCommerce product type: physical, digital, services or subscriptions. That opens up uses such as mandatory oversize shipping charges, deposits for returned parts, royalties that must appear separately or temporary additional costs.
Frequently asked questions
When do I use Force Sells and when a bundle or grouped product?
Force Sells fits when two items must always be bought together. Bundles and grouped products give the customer more room to configure their purchase.
Can the customer remove a synced force sell?
No. It only disappears if they remove the main product.
Does it work for services and digital products?
Yes, it works with any WooCommerce product type.
Does it show clearly in the cart?
Yes, synced ones are shown as "linked".
What it doesn't solve: customer choice and per-person bookings
Force Sells enforces a fixed relationship: it doesn't give the customer options to configure the set. If you want them to choose variants or components, a bundle fits better. Nor is it designed to adjust linked products according to the number of people in a booking: a user with a multivendor store missed compatibility with WooCommerce Bookings on that point. If your business is bookings, test it with your real flow first.
