About WooCommerce Min Max Quantities

When a single-unit order costs you more than it earns

Preparing, packing and shipping an order has an almost fixed cost, whether the customer buys one unit or fifty. If you sell by the case, to other businesses or with tight stock, WooCommerce on its own does not protect you: it does not enforce minimum or maximum quantities, and every money-losing order or purchase that empties your stock ends up being fixed by hand.

WooCommerce Min Max Quantities adds those rules without code: minimums, maximums and multiples (the "Group of" rule) per product, variation, category or entire order. If the cart does not meet them, the customer cannot complete the purchase until they adjust it, so fewer invalid orders reach you.

WooCommerce Min Max Quantities depending on how you sell

You sell wholesale or to other businesses

You can require a minimum number of items or a minimum order total before payment, and set maximums too. That way orders fit how you store and ship. Items meant for individual shoppers can be excluded from those rules and still be sold in any quantity.

You sell in cases, packs or lots

With a group of 6, the customer can only add 6, 12, 18 and so on, never quantities in between. It works for a single product and also for an entire category.

You work with limited stock

A maximum per product stops a single customer from taking every unit, and a minimum helps move other items in efficient batches. They are tools to avoid overstocking and stockouts, but purchase planning is still up to you.

You sell products with variations

Each variation can carry its own minimum, maximum and group. In addition, the Combine Variations option adds up the quantities of all purchased variations: the customer meets the rule by mixing sizes or colors instead of buying enough of just one.

Product, category or order: which rule wins

  • Categories: every product in the category inherits its rule, with no need to set them up one by one.
  • Priority: if a product has its own rule, the category rule of the same type does not apply to it. Rules you do not define on the product are still inherited.
  • Exclusions: you can take a product out of category rules, or out of order rules so that neither its quantity nor its value counts toward minimums and maximums.
  • Large catalogs: product rules can be imported and exported with the native WooCommerce tool.
  • Compatibility: it works with the cart and checkout blocks and with high-performance order storage (HPOS).

Buyer questions before installing it

Do I need the plugin to limit quantities? Yes. WooCommerce does not enforce purchase minimums or maximums by itself.

Can I ask for a minimum order total? Yes, in addition to a minimum or maximum number of items, from the WooCommerce settings.

Does the customer find out about the rule? If the order does not meet minimums, maximums or multiples, they cannot complete the purchase until they adjust the cart.

Is it useful for a retail store? Yes, if you need per-unit caps or fixed packs, although it shows its value most in wholesale and bulk selling.

No different rules by customer or user role

Rules are defined per product, variation, category and order, and are the same for every shopper. If you need limits that change depending on the customer or their role, this plugin does not cover it. It also does not show a dropdown of preset quantities: the customer keeps using the number field, with the rule applied behind the scenes.
