Shoppers who can't find a product leave without asking
In an online store nobody tells you that a customer searched for "smartfon", got nothing and closed the tab. WooCommerce Search Engine replaces your store's search box with one that understands how people really type.
What customers search for and how WooCommerce Search Engine finds it
The plugin offers live suggestions as people type and searches several fields at once:
- Product name and description
- SKU, useful if your customers buy by reference
- Tags, categories, attributes and custom fields
- Synonyms that you define yourself, in pairs
It also corrects typing mistakes: if someone types "smartfon", the algorithm understands they meant "smartphone" and shows relevant results. It also interprets price expressions such as "smartphones under 500$" or "100$ smartphone". It can show all variations of a product during the search and recognizes special Latin and Greek letters.
The results after pressing Enter improve too
Here the same smart search is applied to the results page that appears after pressing Enter, without touching your theme's design. The interface is compatible with any theme, although it is worth checking in the demo how the dropdown fits your design.
Before typing: featured, trending and visited products
The box can add value before the visitor types anything:
- Featured products: you choose the ones you want to push.
- Trending products: the plugin uses its own method to decide which ones they are.
- Recently visited products: personalized for each visitor.
If there are no matches, you can show help messages and suggest popular products instead of an empty screen.
Analytics show what your catalog is missing
Every search is recorded. The valuable part is not what gets found, but what is searched for and doesn't exist: products your customers want and you don't sell yet. It includes filters and an export function to review that data.
What the plugin doesn't do for you
- Already solved: live search, typo correction, SKU, synonyms, price expressions, analytics and the results page.
- You do it: write the list of synonyms for your sector, choose which products to feature and review the analytics.
- WooCommerce only: it is not meant for searching blog posts as its main function; it is built for products.
If you have a large catalog, the plugin includes a backend engine for large stores, and the index rebuild can be scheduled with cron.
