About WooCommerce Waitlist
If your problem is out-of-stock items rather than the catalog, this fits; if you need more customer data, it doesn't
A sold-out product is often a sale that goes to a competitor without you ever knowing. The customer arrives, sees the disabled button, closes the tab and leaves no trace. WooCommerce Waitlist turns that moment into a list of people who want to buy.
It suits anyone who restocks fairly often and wants to notify interested shoppers without doing it by hand. It is less useful if you want to collect more information from the customer: the waitlist form only captures the email, and one buyer's review pointed out exactly that it fell short for their case. If you need additional fields, it would require custom development. One alternative is to force users to create an account to join and ask for that data at registration.
From the button on the sold-out product to the email alert
The customer joins the list with a button shown on the sold-out product. As soon as you update the stock on your site, everyone on the list receives an email with a direct link to the product, which shortens the path to purchase.
It works with simple products, variations and grouped products. You can also show the button on archive pages, such as the shop or the categories, and not only on the product page.
WooCommerce Waitlist as a thermometer for what to restock
Restocking blindly is expensive. This plugin adds a column to the product list so you can sort products by the number of customers waiting, so you quickly see which items have the most accumulated demand.
- Tab in "Edit product": you see who is waiting for each item, can add or remove users, check archived lists and export a CSV.
- Alert log: there is a record of who was sent the stock notice.
- Per-product settings: the list options can be adjusted item by item.
Options that change how it behaves
Some settings are worth knowing before you activate it:
- Set a minimum stock before alerts are sent, useful so you don't notify a hundred people when two units arrive.
- Receive an email as the administrator each time someone joins.
- Add Google Analytics tracking codes to the emails.
- Show subscription elements when the user joins the list.
Registered customers also get a "Your waitlists" tab in "My Account" to review and edit their own. You can place the waitlist elements wherever you want with a shortcode.
Customization and specific compatibilities
You can use the default configuration without touching code. If you want to go further, the plugin offers action hooks and filter hooks to change the email wording, the design of the "Join the waitlist" buttons, the design of the "Your waitlists" page, or to run an extra action when someone joins or leaves a list.
It is compatible with WooCommerce Subscriptions, WPML, The Events Calendar and WooCommerce Product Bundles. If you use other extensions that change stock or the purchase flow, test it on a copy before launching.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ask for more data than the email when someone joins?

Does it work with variable products?
Yes, with simple products, variations and grouped products.
Can customers manage their own lists?
Yes, from the "Your waitlists" tab in "My Account".
Can I see which products have the most demand?
