About WooCommerce WhatsApp Order - Receive Orders using WhatsApp - WooCommerce Plugin

Orders that get lost between the chat and the store

Anyone who sells through WhatsApp knows the mess: the customer writes «I want this and that», details are missing, you have to ask for the size or the address, and then everything has to be copied by hand somewhere else. This plugin reverses the process: the customer buys at the WooCommerce checkout and, once finished, is taken to WhatsApp with the order already written, ready to send to you.

Something to be clear about from the start: the order is created in WooCommerce, pending by default, and the message is sent by the customer from their own WhatsApp. The chat works as a notice and a conversation channel, not as the only record. If someone closes WhatsApp without pressing send, the order is still in your dashboard and you can message them yourself.

What WooCommerce WhatsApp Order does when the customer finishes the purchase

You set your WhatsApp number in the settings (without a leading zero) and the plugin takes care of the rest. These are the pieces that most affect how you work:

  • Redirect or button: after the order you can send the customer straight to WhatsApp or show a button on the thank-you page. The second option feels less like an abrupt jump.
  • Order message: it includes the contents of the purchase. Emojis and the link to view the order can be turned on or off.
  • Optional payment link: you can add it to the message so the customer pays from there, and you can also disable the other checkout gateways if you want everything to go through this channel.
  • Extra product and order data: options chosen with plugins such as WooCommerce Product Add-ons can appear in the message. Meta fields starting with an underscore can be hidden, and the ignore list accepts field titles.
  • Compatibility with the WooCommerce checkout block, a WhatsApp icon, a POT file for translation and settings that also work on multisite.

What it does not do

It is not a live chat or a chatbot: it does not answer or manage conversations. Nor does it send the message on its own from your server: it opens WhatsApp on the customer's device and the customer is the one who sends it. Payment still depends on the WooCommerce gateways; the plugin only adds the link to the message.

Common questions before installing WooCommerce WhatsApp Order

Does it work for a restaurant or a food business?

It supports plugins such as WooCommerce Food (restaurant menu and food ordering), so the options of a dish can reach the message. Test it with your specific setup.

Does it work with the block-based checkout?

Yes, it includes support for the WooCommerce checkout block.

Can it be used from a computer?

Yes. On mobile it opens WhatsApp directly and on other devices it uses the WhatsApp API protocol.

Can I translate the texts?

Yes, it includes a POT file to create your translation, and the order status texts are translatable too.

Can the customer pay without leaving WhatsApp?

If you enable the payment link, the message includes it and the customer can complete the payment from there.

The test message decides whether your customers will understand the order

Before opening this sales channel, place a test order with a product that has options and look at how the message arrives on your WhatsApp. Check that the number is entered without a leading zero, that the chosen options appear and that no internal field slips in that means nothing to the customer.

Also decide whether you prefer an automatic redirect or a button on the thank-you page, and whether you want emojis and the link to the order. Finally, remember that the order stays pending in WooCommerce: define how you will confirm and collect payment before the first real customer arrives.
