An agency's portfolio ages by itself

It is the problem nobody sees coming when they build the work page. You put up six projects with a screenshot and a link each, and it looks great. Two years later, one of those clients redesigned their site, another closed down and the third changed agency and removed everything you made. Your work page still shows screenshots of sites that no longer look like that, and the links lead somewhere else.

And the worst part is that this decay gives no warning: the page keeps loading fine. It is only discovered by the prospective client who clicks a link and lands on a site that looks nothing like the screenshot, precisely while deciding whether to hire you.

WP Portfolio is designed for that particular case: showing websites, not loose images, with the work of maintaining the showcase kept to a minimum.

What the official WP Portfolio licence covers

The plugin activated with its design library, the maker's updates while the licence is current and their support. The GPLClub team does the activation on your domain.

What it does

• Displays websites as well as images, video and custom content, which is what somebody building sites for others needs.
• Ready-made designs for building the work page without laying it out from scratch.
• Light, with lazy loading, so a showcase full of screenshots does not ruin the page's speed.
• Works with the usual builders, so it fits into the site you already have.

It comes from the same house as the Astra theme, which explains the judgement: contained weight and fitting in with what half the ecosystem already uses.

When it pays

If you sell services on the strength of past work. Agencies, freelancers and studios: the work page is the one that closes the sale, and it is usually the worst maintained on the whole site.

If projects pile up. The more you deliver, the more it matters to have the showcase ordered and filterable rather than an endless list.

If your portfolio is photography or illustration, there are more specific pieces for pure galleries; the members' catalogue has Visual Portfolio Pro for that ground.

And the advice that actually makes this work, which no plugin gives you: check your links once a year. A job that no longer exists subtracts more than it adds, and removing it is free.

About licensing and the GPL

The code is distributed under the GPL licence and its use is free. Updates, support and activation against the maker's servers are separate services contracted with them. They are not the same thing, and buying one is not buying the other.
