About WPC Product Bundles for WooCommerce

When customers buy one thing and leave

Many WooCommerce stores sell products that go well together and still list them separately: the T-shirt alone, the shoes alone. Customers compare unit prices and the average order value stays flat. WPC Product Bundles for WooCommerce groups several products into one with a single bundle price, so buying more really pays off.

There is something almost nobody calculates before launching a combo: if you already have items on sale, the bundle discount stacks on top of that markdown and your margin can get very thin. Below you will see how to keep it under control.

A combo of three T-shirts and a pair of shoes, step by step

Imagine a year-end promotion. This is how you would set it up:

  • Choose the products. Add whichever items you want to the bundle, with no cap on how many, and reorder them by dragging. You can add the same product several times. Simple and subscription products work out of the box; to include a variable product or a specific variation you need the premium version.
  • Set the price. Either an automatic price, with a percentage or amount discount on the total, or a manual fixed price: you turn off the automatic price and enter the regular and/or sale price in the General tab.
  • Decide how much freedom the customer has. You can leave a default quantity or allow custom quantity, with a minimum and maximum per product or for the whole set (for example, between 3 and 8 items and no more than 3 units of each). Those limits only appear if you enable custom quantity. You can also require a minimum or maximum bundle total, useful so a promotion never drops below a certain amount.
  • Check stock, shipping and taxes. The stock of the bundled products is managed as if they were individual sales, at product level or bundle level. Shipping and taxes can apply to the whole bundle or to each sub-product, and you also decide how coupons behave.

Questions before building bundles with WPC Product Bundles

Can I include variable products?

Only with the premium version. Without it, a bundle accepts simple and subscription products.

Can customers see each product's details without leaving the page?

You can link each sub-product to its own page (in the same tab or a new one) or leave it unlinked. The quick view popup requires the WPC Smart Quick View plugin, which is separate.

How does the bundle look on PDF invoices?

There is a compatibility tab to configure how bundles and sub-products appear on PDF invoices.

Can I change the button texts and alerts?

Yes, from the localization tab: add to cart buttons, total text, saved text and alerts.

The discount is calculated on the sale price unless you change it

By default the plugin starts from each product's current sale price. If they are already marked down and you also apply a percentage to the bundle, you pile up two discounts. You can choose to calculate from the regular price instead, or simply set a manual fixed price to control your margin to the cent.

You can also hide the price of each sub-product, show the subtotal per item instead of the unit price, and choose the format in which the bundle price appears in the shop and archive pages.

What customers see on the bundle page

Almost everything can be shown or hidden: thumbnail, price, image, quantity and short description. You also decide whether the bundle and its sub-products appear in the mini-cart, cart and checkout, and whether the list goes above or below the text.

  • With variations, the price and the main image update when the customer picks another option or changes the quantity.
  • The variation selector is a drop-down; if you prefer radio buttons, you need the WPC Variations Radio Buttons plugin.
  • On each product page you can show the bundles it belongs to, a useful nudge to sell more in the same purchase.
